Wow. Have to agree that the Best Brewhouse category is a joke. There are at least three start up micro breweries in Nashville that could have benefited from a little exposure here. Instead the #1 "brewhouse" is not a brewery at all but merely an over priced bar (with kind of nasty bathrooms).
How does someone nominate the Best Karaoke Host in Nashville?
Or is this just the opinion on the writer, Jason Shawhan?
I agree Donna Noack is a great Karaoke Host and love her shows, but there are a lot of other great ones out there too. I would nominate Brad Corsey and Larry Dewese from Larry's, Mitch from Dolan's, JW from Spanky's Bar & Grill, and even note "some" of the wannabe's from downtown.
I have read many reviews about the Best Karaoke in Nashville, and it always comes back with Lonnie's Western Room on Printer's Alley. Wow, really guys? That has got to be the worst of the worst. How could it ever even be considered as a tolerable karaoke bar. The sound system is ridiculous. The software and music all pirated and the hosts all sing 10 songs in a row.
And Buck Wild... What can be said about this tourist trap? If you wanna pay $8 for a 6oz. cocktail, then wait while their KJ sings 3 in a row. You will still get to look forward to them shoving a tip jar in your face claiming they don't get paid at all, and charging your $10-$20 to sing something... Yikes!
If they are slow, you will sing. If their are more than 10 people in the list, break out the wallet and start bribing the KJ. Truly awful.
Larry's is pretty good until the clock strikes 1am and they charge $5 per song.
But guys, we have tipped you $15 throughout the night??? What's up with that?
Spanky's is pretty good. Smaller place, holds about 100 people, but the sound is the best offered, hands down.
So, please tell us how this voting for the "Best" thing works.
It just seems the same ole run down dives keep getting a nod from the Nashville Scene for being awful.
(Oh, that was certainly not directed at Queen Donna Noack, we love her too! lol)
I completely disagree with Jordan Caress statement, "no small feat in a town that still suffers from a lack of GLBTQ community organization" for BEST QUEER DANCE PARTY: QDP AT THE 5 SPOT.
If Jordan actually did any research, she would find out there are A LOT of GLBT community organizations here! Here's a link to prove it: http://www.outandaboutnewspaper.com/page/9. Better leave the GLBT coverage to Out & About Newspaper!
The answers will be published in the 18th's issue
TO THE CROSSWORD PUZZLE? JOAN AGAIN
how to get answers to the New York Times for October 11th 2012? i have tried and can not get them. Help
Bloodworth is in the best Scooter shop list? That place is pathetic, and the owner is a liar.
One of the" best of Services" listed is an extortionist who caused me irreparable damage; won't name names, but I won't be using this list to do any business. Very Disappointing to say the least.
Be careful. You can be voted "Best Lasik Surgery Center" and still damage your fair share of eyes. I am looking into a corneal transplant after tangling with one of these quacks who claim Lasik surgery is better than it really is. Remember you only have two eyes. Protect them from these monsters who are just willing to cut into healthy eyes so they can drain your pocketbook.
What the heck is "Best Brewhouse"???? If history is any guide, you meant brewery/brew pub/mico brewery and anyways you already have a "best beer selection" category. That's too bad cuz there are a couple of start up micro breweries that could use the publicity :P
While it's encouraging to see the Bombino gig named best of the year, as I fully imagine it was, it's less an indication of 'how awesome Nashville has become' than 'how Nashville continues to disrespect the people who go to the trouble to try to make it awesome despite itself.' Nashville is a music industry town through and through, the lack of institutional support for adventurous music is and has been a glaring fact of life as long as I can remember. What you should be asking yourself is "Why was the best show of the year at a VFW?" The answer is that it was set up single-handedly by my dear friend and former bandmate, Chris Davis, who has been amazingly actively bringing avant-garde and otherwise exciting music to Nashville for over fifteen years. Nashville really needs to stop patting itself on the back long enough to give at least a few pats to the people who actually deserve it. Bravo, Chris.
The Best wine shop by far is The Wine Shoppe at Green Hills, great service, great advice, great folks
Really glad to see F. Scott's win Best Restaurant. As much as I love Margot's, City House, Flyte, and Capitol Grille, F. Scott's is tops when it comes to fine-dining and service.
I'm not sure I understand the "Best Brewhouse" award? What is a Brewhouse in this instance? Is it a business with the name Brewhouse in it? Is it a business that actually brews their beers? Is it a bar that sells mostly beer?
You have Broadway Brewhouse which has zero beer production making it just a bar that sells anything from Coors to Green Flash. Then you have Yazoo and Blackstone both of which produce their own products locally. 2 totally different concepts. All the local craft breweries should have their own category and not be lumped in with a bar that sells multiple brands. Just a suggestion for next year.
A major mistake has been made. Stone House Q wasn't listed once. Come on guys, BBQ and ribs... I'd think you'd know where the goods are at. Highly disappointed.
I agree with marilynb23 and mike... how can Whitts seriously count as a valid vote? And yeah marilynb23, I'm very surprised that Stonehouse Q wasn't listed for at least BBQ but also for ribs.
Can we stop recording Whitts votes?
the best coffeehouse list should read - dose, crema, barista parlor.
Why isn't Stone House Q represented? I mean seriously, Whitts is dog food when it comes to quality.
Re: “People & Places Readers' Poll”
Was DeVry University one of the colleges polled?
