Re: “Best Up-and-Coming Hairstylist

Sarah Shepherd cut and colored my hair for the first time on Friday -- best haircut in years and the color is outstanding. Sarah Shepherd listened, offered suggestions, danced with my indecision and skillfully channeled what I should have asked for to produce one of the finest salon experiences in my l-o-n-g life. Don't miss Sarah and her talents at Shine.

Re: “Best Actress

Ruth Cordell rocks. My daughter is in her speech class, and she's not only a great actress, she's a wonderful teacher.

Re: “Best Waiter

I would have to agree that Jimmy Boy (I call him Jimmy Boy), is the best waiter in Nashville. I dine at Las Maracas about 3 times a week, since it is 5 minutes from my home in Inglewood...It's a great place to grab a late nite meal after class and is always crowded on weekends. I have been going there for 5 yeaars now. Jimmy takes very good care of me, when the waiter asks if you want the usual...you know he knows you and respects you. It's like I was home in Jersey at the Malibu Diner in Hoboken. Good Food, Good Service at a Good Price.

Re: “Best Actress

We miss Ruth in L.A.! If you thought Tennessee Shakes was great, try Ruth's performance as a real fairy Titania in California Lutheran's Midsummer. She was very brave to wear a butt-floss bikini as part of the costume. She was also great as the Ghost of Christmas Past in Santa Susannah's Christmas Carol. L.A.'s loss is Nashville's (re)gain.

Re: “Best Actress

I found that Ms. Cordell is very talented. I attended this past summer on the Webb School Campus the 1st Tennessee Shakespeare Festival 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. It was wonderful. It is great to be expose my children to such talent. I hope we see more of her.

Re: “Best Next Mayor

By the way, I think Briley also got involved in the law suit about the English Only referendum, another example of him continuing to care about public issues and weigh in on the right side even from his position in private business. I guess he's got public service in his blood, whether elected or not. I still think it's too early to be this hard on Dean, though.

Re: “Best Next Mayor

I agree that David Briley would make a terrific Mayor, but in all fairness let's give Karl Dean a little more time to undo this first impression. As for Briley running again, now that he is able to focus on the far more personally profitable private practice of law, I wouldn't blame him if he stayed there instead of throwing himself into the thankless world of public service again. --But I sure hope he will consider it.

Re: “Readers' Poll

I was sad to see that Jake Harsh didn't win for best visual artist! But hey, at least best photographer won as "Best Category We Forgot". I've seen his work and to me he's the best photographer in town. I think its jakeharsh.com or harshmedia.com, something like that. Next year, you've got to have a Best Photographer category - this is music city afterall and everybody wants their picture taken!
