Re: “Public Memorial Service for George Jones To Be Held Thursday at the Opry

Terri Echols Garnto, I didn't see your question until this morning. I hope you were able to ask around and find out that George's funeral service was going to be aired on all of the Nashville tv stations (yesterday, May 2nd at 10:00AM). I wasn't able to be at the Grand Ole Opry House for the service so I watched it at home. Last evening on channel 4 news they showed George's burial site in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville and mentioned that some years back he purchased 60 surrounding plots so he could give them to music buddies' families who may not be able to afford a burial plot at the time of their death. I thought that was an amazing thing for George Jones to do. Johnny Paycheck is buried in one of those plots. If you want to visit George's grave site at the Woodlawn Cemetery it is located at 660 Woodlawn Lane. If you go to www.googlemaps.com you can get the directions from your place to the cemetery. I will be going by there someday to leave some flowers at George Jones' grave site.

Re: “Justin Bieber, the most hated man in music, returns to Nashville

Eh. Justin Bieber, in these days, is quite a douchebag if you ask me. I used to be a fan, and "Mistletoe" was actually quite adorable, but if I were to meet him now, I would punch him hard, to knock some senses into that star-lit brain of his. I can even write an essay of undeniable hatred to him.

Re: “Eddie Stubbs just celebrated an unparalleled 15 years at his unparalleled radio show

I live in East Tennessee (Knoxville) and usually listen to Eddie Stubbs several nights each week and have done so for years. As far as I am concerned Eddie is a walking encyclopedia of country music. He tells interesting stories and speaks with authority about the artist, songs, and the history associated with each. Eddie Stubbs is a total professional and sets the De facto standard in country music D.J.' ing. In my opinion he has no equal. Ironically, today was the first time that I have ever seen him or even a picture of him. I watched him do the George Jones funeral. Eddie is consistent and did his usual "outstanding job". Eddie Stubbs is another country music icon, legend and treasure.

definitely love the early Pavement meets drive-by truckers sound of the Glossary tune! sounds like a completely different (but equally awesome) band.

Re: “Jonny Fritz on Morning TV; Buffalo Clover Covers Skip James; Milktooth Covers Mumford and Sons [Vidsy Bits]

That was an oversight. It's been corrected, and we do apologize of course. Old habits and all.

Re: “Wednesday Night Round-Up: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club; Bill Callahan; Ttotals; Rush; Pickwick; and More

I was a big fan of The Call in college and that IS a pretty good cover of Let The Day Begin by BRMC. I kinda miss Michael Been's rubbery bass playing but this is acceptable!

Re: “Haystak Calls Out Eminem

Ahem... Obviously something worked because since the campaign, Em has put out 2 hot records, much better than his first after what, 5 years, not to mention, who do you think lit the fire under his ass.

Please believe Em may have came from the trailer park, but wouldn't bust a grape in a fruit fight!

Re: “Marilyn Manson to Play War Memorial Auditorium July 9

Saw Manson in 97. Awesome show supporting an awesome album. i'd drive 3-4 hours to watch him play if he was still putting on shows and making albums like ACSS, but he's not. Now he just mumbles incoherently and shares fake drugs with people. Stick to painting Mr. Manson. Music no longer suits you.

Mike, that's awesome! He looks like he would probably be the coolest guy at the station. What is he up to these days? Thanks for the link to the London Side comp, too, going to check that out now.

Why wear a coon-skin cap when you can have a wolf-headed dong?
