Re: “Inglewood is lucky to have David Mitchell's new seafood-and-sausage joint Rudie's

My advice to the reviewer: Go back and the get the pork burger (WITH over-light egg). A friend of mine is obsessed with it, going so far as to buy a sausage grinder in an attempt to replicate it at home. With the option of having a meal of oysters on the half shell followed by a pork burger and lard fries, I now know I will be living in Inglewood forever.

@SL - touche'. It ain't the same. I had also wondered about that certain "local" blueberry stand. Loved the berries but couldn't figure out how they got in with all the new rules. Silly me.

Re: “Open Thread Wants to Know: What's the Best Restaurant Delivery Service?

Nothing says "you are not the target market for this service" like reading this and thinking, who wants to pay for delivery when you 1) have personal transportation, 2) enjoy a place's physical space and interactions, and 3) are healthy enough to enjoy getting out and eating healthy options? oh, and 4) never have I received take out that was as good as dine-in.

In other words, having a fast food burrito or sandwich or, lord, what planet are we on - a blizzard from DQ - delivered would never, ever occur to me. Even if trapped in a hotel without a rental car. I will see your pricey bag of almost warm food and raise you one trusty bag of almonds and two drinks at the bar .

having said that, there is one place for which I would pay for delivery to my home: Prince's. Good luck making that business case profitable!

Re: “Farmers Market Find: Yellow Wax Beans (With Recipe)

@BW I wouldn't expect anyone is finding anything they used to find at the new, improved farmers market where everything except produce is sold...but if it is, thank god it's local. Unless it's from Michigan. In which case, thank god it's the actual producer selling it and not some nefarious evil-doing middleman. Except it's really their local family member...

Re: “Tickets Now on Sale for the Nashville Whiskey Festival

I am from NY and the cost of tickets to your festivals in this state is outrageous. Where I come from there are many, many festivals all over the place and are well attended. You see here in this state the festivals being a five year limit at which time it is not getting enough attendance. People go once and do not return because of the cost. I see that over and over again... the life of a festival that charges these outrageous prices is limited. It is a one time attendance because of the cost. People do not come back year after year . Unless everything is free, including food and whiskey it is not worth a return visit.I am not going to attend because of the cost, not only the one ticket but one for my daughter and granddaughter. You just cut off your nose to think you are making money but the life of the festival is destroyed by greed. Three hundred dollars to go to your festival is not worth it for me. You could not have three hundreds dollars worth of fun for anyone. If I want a bottle of Johnny Walker Red or Glenlivet I can buy two bottles for the price of one of your tickets.

Attention Bitesters: Your assignment for today is a short essay on how Ski Lodge fish tacos are preferable to Farm-to-Table fish tacos. Please keep your response to under 250 words. Go!

Re: “Farmers Market Find: Yellow Wax Beans (With Recipe)

Start working at home with Google! It's by-far the best job I've had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail.

Re: “Open Thread Wants to Know: What's the Best Restaurant Delivery Service?

2 words: DELIVERY DUDES. Why? 2 More Words: LIQUOR DELIVERY. The Dudes have a section on their website where you can order any type of alcohol - I'm not sure it gets much better than that!!! Not to mention they are a pleasure to deal with and the food is always hot/cold as needed, and delivered within an hour of ordering. I gladly spend a dollar extra (than orderup's 3.99) for delivery to get the consistent and stellar service from the Dudes.

Re: “Open Thread Wants to Know: What's the Best Restaurant Delivery Service?

I gotta say, tried Postmates and OrderUp, and while they are fine, Delivery Dudes is the one company that has completely surpassed my expectations, and there were never any surprises (other than good ones). It's a truly consistent service with a flat rate for delivery: $5 if you pay cash, $7 if you pay credit. We ordered at my office and my boss wanted extra extra mayo on the side.... well, the restaurant did not give any extra mayo on the side, and when the driver noticed this en route, he stopped at a mart and picked up a small bottle of mayo for no extra charge to us, just so the order would be 100% accurate. super awesome that someone would go so out of their way to do that when he could have just been like, "oh sorry, the restaurant messed up, not us." after researching the company a little bit, it's obvious that the "go above and beyond" mentality is what they are all about... their slogan is "BRINGING THE GOOD".... that's an understatement.

Re: “Farmers Market Find: Yellow Wax Beans (With Recipe)

Leslie, sounds great.

In the past, there have been trucks at the NFM selling green beans by the bushel. I haven't seen them this year. Has anyone else?

Re: “Farmers Market Find: Yellow Wax Beans (With Recipe)

@TL Ah, good question! No, not green-beany at all. Very mild and delicate texture when you use young beans. They don't taste green, if that makes sense to you.

Re: “Farmers Market Find: Yellow Wax Beans (With Recipe)

So is the flavor green-beany? I've only seen them in 3-bean salad, and that was when I was a kid and refused on principle to eat such a thing. :D
