Re: “On wanderlust, women, victim-blaming and vulnerability

This is such a great post. So many people never leave because they think everything abroad is bound to be unsafe. I'm also over the "she brought it on herself"mentality.

MinaKamina, I think this essay is about how nowhere is safe, so we should make the most of it and NOT blame the victims, especially women. I'm sad the conversation has already backtracked to that. Having walked the Camino myself, I can honestly say that every part of the Camino felt incredibly safe, much more safe than my neighborhood at home. There are hundreds and thousands of blogs and websites and movies and media telling you that you will probably die if you do x, y, or z. You never know when something is going to happen, but perpetuating these fear narratives doesn't do anyone any good. I for one want to live my life to the fullest. I'm confident Denise, who left home to seek an incredible experience, would not want her legacy to be one of entrenched terror. That is not what she lived for, and it does not honor her if more women believe they should just stay home.

I also like the flying metaphor. Go, Kim! Another good one.

Re: “Sources: Steele On His Way Out of MNPS

Until now, I've always had a favorable impression of Steele, despite what I've read about his high-handed manner with teachers. One hopes he'll learn from his Nashville experience.

Bd---care to explain that simile? ( On second thought, never mind. It's probably something I'm better off not knowing.)

Re: “The Daily Links: A Police Execution, the Downed Russian Jet, and Magnificent Bears

I don't yet know yet whether there is a defense for the officer, but a person high on PCP and waving a knife around is a danger to everyone he encounters; the cop could not let the youth go merrily along his way. In the situation described, some police forces - maybe all - are trained to use necessary force against a person who presents a danger and is within ten feet and does not obey orders. In nearly every case of police shootings of African-Americans there is one constant: criminal actions by the dead person.

Steeles time is just up. Getting passed over is not fun and doesn't bode well for the future. Better to wish him well and move on like a vulva.

Re: “Traveling Gun Owners Give Thanks for Diane Black

Okay, I need ed to reiterate that I am the one true bubbadog. My computer got all fouled up and I cannot login. I am not a fang bearing, flag waving member of the religious right christianists and I am not a panty waisted anus licking liberal like some frequent posters.

Where can I go to get my good name back? I demand retribution, compensation, amplification and my other n column at PITH.

Re: “Ozment: Why Jim Cooper's Vote on Syrian Refugees Was Wrong

I don't believe the concern in this matter is about the people in Syria, it's more about the Syrian refugees. Often refugees become permanent residents as did my Irish and French ancestors. I see no problem with them becoming permanent residents if they become productive citizens. I fear some are put off because they are usually not Christian, but really why should that be a concern? I have traveled the world in my youth and I found most people are good folks regardless of religion, or in spite of it.

I get sick of these continued attacks on charters. If he is opposed to charters I am glad he's gone. Charters are here to stay; get used to it.

I don't know if they exactly smell bad, but to me at least, wearing scent is smelly on a man. Liberals will do this, cuz. Liberals don't like to sweat.

Re: “Sources: Steele On His Way Out of MNPS

Let me get this straight: Dr. Steele met with a group of teachers, told them he was leaving, and yet no one is willing to repeat on the record what Steele said "for fear of losing their jobs."

I've read a lot over the last few years about the frustrations and low morale of MNPS teachers and usually take it with a grain or two of salt. (Sorry, but your representatives in the MNEA, like farmers, are incessant complainers and not very good at public relations.)

This one incident, though, tells me all I need to know about Dr. Steele and any other administrator at MNPS who would fire a teacher for truthfully repeating what Steele announced to a room of people.

If the story is accurate---I assume it is; Angela is a first rate reporter---nothing could more clearly indicate to me the oppressive culture inside the MNPS.

Good riddance.

Re: “A Night of Peace at the School Board

Let me first start by saying I am ecstatic to have been crowned the next Mr. TN Valley Pride this past Sunday. I am excited to see this organization excel ayynd to be able to be a part of it is a honor. This upcoming year is going to be phenomenal!!!
Thank you to ELLEgant Exclusive and their support in helping me reach this next step in my career . Thank you to the judges who gave me great feedback on how i can better myself in this artform. To the audience that night.. Yalls energy was amazing!!! To my supporters/fans who constantly sent me words of encouragement and good vibes all day. To my team who helped me prepare whether it be stoning, painting, etc. To my "band" who brought as much life to my talent as I did.
And I can't forget my dresser, my right hand, my sense of sanity... my heart! You kept me calm, relaxed, and never left my side that night. Re: “What a three-year public records fight revealed about the TSSAA’s financial aid rules and the school that broke them

I will like to share the goodness of God in my life after so many months of trying to get a loan on the internet and was been scammed so i became restless and desperate in getting a loan from a legit lender online. But as God would have it, i saw a comment from a friend called William Ken and he talked about this legit loan company where he got his loan fast and easy without any stress so he introduced me to a man called Mr BARRY MORE who controls a firm called BARRY MORE Loan Company, So i applied for a loan sum of ($200,000.00USD) with low interest rate of 3%, so the loan was approved and deposited into my bank account in less than 48hrs, that was how i was able to get back on my feet to keep my broken business running and also to pay off my bills so i am advising everyone of you who is interested in getting a loan without collateral, no credit check, no co signer with just 3% interest rate and better repayment plans/ schedule, to please contact Mr Barry More. You can contact him through his email:

Let us reason together. Afterall it is the NYT, so why not graciously thank me; this is the second time I posted the news. I would think you would want to know more about this movement. It is big in education-as if you didn't know. Wonder if Min and Tracy read it?

Re: “The Daily Links: A Police Execution, the Downed Russian Jet, and Magnificent Bears

Given that the victim was walking away from the police and that the officer charged emptied his gun with 16 shots into the young black man, many shots while standing over the victim, is there any wonder about the murder charge. It will be interesting how yoyo will mount his vigorous defense of the officer.

I clicked on the bear article and what I found astonished and disappointed me- not one actual picture of a bear. That's very irresponsible journalism.
