Re: “Appreciation: George Barrett Loved Being A Lawyer

Barret lectured my Con Law class in college. Good man, but very intense. Inspired us to examine all issues from both sides, something I find myself often failing to do now, unfortunately!

"Hawking." I don't think a pawnbroker would be fooled by that price.

Re: “We Can't Make This Up (UPDATED)

Privatization of what should be public operations usually results in inefficiency and constant apology, IMHO!

As far as police possessing military equipment, such should be used only in extreme situations and what transpired (by police) in Ferguson BEFORE the provocative video release was completely uncalled for and dose not qualify. What resulted after was the result of authority malpractice.
AS far as this "chicken little" chaos prediction, good damn chance that it is started by authority figures power mad and intolerant of constitutional protections of citizen dissent.

Pith passionately defends its hard-won "stupid political screed" turf.

Re: “A guerrilla urbanist demonstration this weekend in The Nations shows Nashville the streetscape of the future

" But Guerilla Urbanist is the first community-driven effort to transform an entire block in Nashville, according to Kenner." Of course it is.

Re: “Appreciation: George Barrett Loved Being A Lawyer

"The commissioners laughed. They did not rule in George’s favor."
Thankfully.
May you be in heaven a half hour before the devil knows you passed, Mr. Barrett.

Re: “Affordable Housing Units Face Bankruptcy After Being Hit With Massive Tax Bill

Am I correct in thinking that the 0.01% ownership is what this hinges on? The article is a little hard to follow when trying to dtermine what tipped this from non-tax to taxable.

0.01% is a pretty small amount. I assume the $376,000 bill is representative of the entire value of the property and not 0.01% of the property. I'd offer $37.60.

Sorry, Jim, but this seems to be typical over at 310 Great Circle Drive and has been since way back when...everyone who has dealt with them at one time or another has such a tale to tell.

Re: “The Great UFO Wave of 1973 brought an 'Autumn of Aliens' to Middle Tennessee

I don't mean to sound crazy but in 1973 I lived on 9th avenue north and I remember floating above the house above the telephone polls and walking through house of people that I had never met. My older brother disappeared and has never been heard from. Our house was haunted or so we kids thought. We would see an older white man walk through the house at night and disappear before the bathroom door. He was dressed in a railroad uniform. You know pinstriped duck head overalls and a cap like an engineer or something. We were one of the first black families to live in that area. My brother still lives there but he has since torn that house down and built a new one. Aliens, I don't know maybe but I do know that what I saw as a child and adolescent was real because I did not tell my children about it and they saw it too. I live in Illinois now and I have seen things at my old job at the Tinley Park Mental hospital too. (Yeah I know Mental Hospital) I was sitting in the lab with my regional director and I saw a big black glob cross the doorway. Well I was not going to say anything because I have been seeing crap my whole life that I can remember. She asked did you see that and I replied so you saw it to? We looked but we could not find anything. A couple days later there was a UFO sighting over Tinley. Aliens walking the earth as Ghost, Maybe. She just happens to be from Tennessee also, some little town down near Memphis.

Re: “What if TennCare Director Darin Gordon is Really a Performance Artist?

Par for the course.

While funny, I wouldn't pin this on one guy.

You didn't quote this, but these guys have some responsibility for oversight. It is the end of August:

"The presentation was the first time Tennesseee lawmakers have publicly questioned TennCare about the issue, which began to surface early this year.

Mismanagement???? Given that Grinnin' Bill really does not want it to work (cause he's got a plan that no one knows about), one might assume that this is all smoke and mirrors to delay till at least after the elections.
