Re: “The semi-pro Nashville Storm is the winning-est football team you've never heard of

Storms are the best of the best, what really needs to happen is the Nashville Storms should face the Tennessee Titans to find out which team needs to be in the NFL and let the fans decide

the team shouldn't be blamed if they choose to cut ties

He was my favorite player. A possession guy. I hate these "he said, she said" court cases that take forever. Time is not on his side.

On the other hand, everyone does deserve a day in court. Ribiero has not been convicted or even tried on these charges.

Re: “Soccer club Nashville FC's fan-owned model may succeed where others have failed

No, the club isn't like FC United, and that's fine. Having a semi-pro/pro team in the city can only help the growth of the game. The team is sending out players to provide FREE clinics for interested youth players. I hope they can turn the youth soccer pyramid right-side up in Nashville, at least. My lad's team is full of "select team" quality players who can't afford select team dues, or at least find them prohibitive and not cost effective for the advancement of the kids.

We attended a few senior level matches last season and plan on going back this season.

It isn't simply the offer of "buying in" that helped make the side successful here, part of it has been their community involvement.

Re: “Soccer club Nashville FC's fan-owned model may succeed where others have failed

Nashville FC is totally worth supporting - a great club that listens to its supporters, has built on the great work that Devinder and Lynn did for years in creating an appetite for soccer in Nashville, and will be an important club in US soccer for years to come.

That said, it's not supporter-owned. I wish it really were, but it's not. They have a great model to get supporters to feel like they have a stake in the club, but the supporters don't really own it.

If you like soccer, you've gotta support this team. Incredibly convenient from a financial and logistical perspective: affordable tickets, free/nearby/plentiful parking available and some legitimately talented coaches/players on the pitch. The tailgating is lots of fun and very family friendly.

Re: “Soccer club Nashville FC's fan-owned model may succeed where others have failed

I had high expectations for Nashville FC going into this season. I wasn't a member last year but became one this year as I love the sport and want to help it grow in this city as much as possible. The first game exceeded my expectations - great procuct on field, a decent sized crowd (even w/ Steeplechase, the Sounds, and Vandy baseball competing this day), and playing on a beautiful night in an SEC stadium. I'm thrilled by the possibilities for Nashville FC this year and beyond.

Re: “Soccer club Nashville FC's fan-owned model may succeed where others have failed

Nice Article JR Lind, Thank you for the coverage.

I am Devinder Sandhu, cofounder of the Nashville Metros and also a founding member supporter of Nashville FC. Lynn Agee, other Metros cofounder is also a founding member.

Funny bit about the Metros roster of players, etc, but I must point that the Metros have a lasting impact of the growth of soccer in this town. We brought MLS teams to play in Nashville (Colorado, KC) and helped redesign LP Field so it would be a suitable venue as a FIFA world cup stadium.

Additionally, Nashville FC GM, Brian (BJ) Johnson and Head Coach Kyle Roelke are both Metros Alumni. The GM last year, Andy Poklad is also a Metros Alumni. Several players on last year's team were Metros Alumni. Metros Alumni make up significant numbers of the local soccer coaches population. Several Metros players advanced to the MLS and a couple even made the US National team (Jon Busch and Richard Mulrooney).

Success is measured in many ways, especially for minor sports in this county. I believe the Metros were successful as a soccer entity and have paved the way for continued growth and success of the world's game in Nashville. Twenty five years as a sports franchise is a long time.

Lynn and I encourage the Nashville community to adopt Nashville FC ... Become a Proud Member....Come to the Games. Help grow an already popular sport to a new level with Nashville FC. After all it is "Our Club / Our Town" !!!

Re: “Soccer club Nashville FC's fan-owned model may succeed where others have failed

A couple things stand out to me:
1) A-League? USL hasn't been called the A-League in over a decade
2) Nashville FC has been trying as of late to assure people that they are support funded. Paying for a membership entitles supporters to a vote on select issues. NFC supporters do not own shares of the club. This difference sets them apart from clubs such as AFC Wimbledon and many of the other clubs you referenced.

I was at the game on Saturday and it was a blast. Cheaper than a movie ticket, great tailgating scene, free parking right across from the stadium.

The last Heisman Trophy winner the Oilers/Titans drafted (Eddie George) worked out pretty well.

Re: “Bosnian, Serbian fight together on Lipscomb's basketball court

Author, you should be ashamed of your reporting. First off, Yugoslavia was not ever Eastern Europe, nor were we in the Eastern Bloc. Second, the war was not between Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina, but a civil war within Yugoslavia. Serbs "did not" ethnically cleanse anyone, and for your info, 200,000 Serbs were chased out by Ustasas in Croatia. Serbs lived in those parts since forever. Typical ignorant reporting, just like most American is. Milosevic was just one of those who did not help the situation, nor did Tudjman, and others. Shame on you for picking sides. You wonder why people dislike USA. Because of people like you.

Re: “Sports can bind parent to child when nothing else can

I teared up reading this. My husband and I have been taking our son to Predators games since he was 3 months old. He's now 3.5, and he eats, sleeps, and breathes hockey. He knows all the cheers, most players by name, and every team in the NHL. When we introduced hockey to him over 3 years ago, I never imagined the passion for the sport that would develop. I am amazed every day when he mimics something new from the game while playing on game on the living room floor and pretending to be Shea Weber or Pekka Rinne. Just like you, I hope to always share that love for the game. It's a special bond.

Re: “Sports can bind parent to child when nothing else can

I'll never forget the pure joy when I saw my then 3 year old daughter sing "Chelios is a sissy" for three hours straight when we would play the Wings. She is now a 10 year old with a special talent for heckling Blackhawks fans.
