Re: “Weekly Open Thread: Wine in Grocery Stores Edition

David, I didn't know that. Makes better sense now. Thanks for the info.

Re: “Weekly Open Thread: Wine in Grocery Stores Edition

BW it is hard to have competitive pricing when the legislature mandates a 20% mark up and single store ordering to prevent them from being able to compete with the local guys.

Tobin, Clear Creek McCarthy's Oregon Single Malt Whiskey is a dead ringer for Lagavulin and can occasionally be found around that $40 price point. Maybe $50 if not.

Re: “Weekly Open Thread: Wine in Grocery Stores Edition

What's the best (750ml) bottle of Scotch that can be had in Nashville for under $40? I usually buy Glen Moray, which is perfectly acceptable, but would love some other suggestions. I do really enjoy Glenmorangie & Glenfiddich, but they're usually over $40.

Re: “Peg Leg Porker Launches Online Ordering and Delivery

Online ordering really helps restaurants grow and profit from their "take-out channel", especially if its integrated with their respective POS. If you are a restaurant owner and you are interested in implementing POS integrated online ordering visit http://ez-chow.com

Re: “Weekly Open Thread: Wine in Grocery Stores Edition

I was in Kroger a couple days ago and they had the prices up. What a joke. If you thought you were going to get a deal because it was in a big box store, think again. We have 2 go-to cabs and both were higher than what we pay at either of the liquor stores that we buy from now. And both were "on sale". One of the wines had a "regular" price of $10 more a bottle than the "sale" price. Really? We're talking $15 a bottle wines. Convenient, yes. But I think I'll still support my local guys. And save money while I'm at it.

"a NRHP registered Victorian house"

well, then, that seals it

Purcell lived in East Nashville during much of his adult and political life. I know this because he was my neighbor even before he became Mayor. I grew up in the Inglewood Section of East Nashville but during the late 80's I was buying a NRHP registered Victorian house near 5 Points. Boner had sold his big B house behind East Park and was rehabbing a house down the street from me.

Start working at home with Google! It's by-far the best job I've had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail.

The initial version of the story said that he grew up there. I remember because it struck me as odd. I suspect there was a change in response to my comment.

I can imagine Purcell's bowel movements with that lunch menu each day. I imagine it all the time, by the way.

@notguilty
JR doesn't say Purcell grew up in East Nashville, just that he was a product of East Nashville politics.

Re: “Blackstone Opens Taproom, Closes Brewpub, At Least Temporarily

Stephanie was a terrific manager of the restaurant. Kent knows how to make beer. Todd, who tried to run the place, post Steph, revealed how unqualified he was in that capacity. If this plays out the way all of us in the know folks suspect, this may be first time a brewery morphed from a decent pub to another shitty tap room. But look on the bright side: the taproom on Clifton has pretty good parking.

Bolton's with an ear of buttery sweet corn and a sliced tomato.

That's summertime deliciousness.

Not a surprise. Some folks think if they've been successful in another field, surely they can run a restaurant. How hard could it be? Well, you damn near drove it into the ground, doctor.

Uh, Bill Purcell did NOT grow up in East Nashville. I think he grew up in Pennsylvania.

The last native we have had as mayor was Bill Boner.
