Re: “Can Ferguson Happen Here?

Nice screed yoyo. You should choose another seat.

Psalms 1:1-6 - Blessed [is] the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

Ever since I removed The Tennessean from my Google news feed, I feel like I've fixed the whole internet. Good riddance to their Romney-endorsing toilet paper.

Re: “Al v. Jazeera

"being used to fund terrorists."

Stacy, I wouldn't be able to blame you if that were true.

This is a television network in which you didn't "detect a hint of the bias" that you feared. In spite of that, you still make the leap to claiming it's all a front to fund terrorists.

Re: “The Daily Links: Ferguson, Editors, and the EPL

Jim, you are jumping to a lot of conclusions in spite of the fact that you are adding qualifiers like "unless", "my opinion", "reasonable to believe", etc. In spite of basing everything on reports from television, radio, or newspapers, you're still absolutely convinced he died instantly or was paralyzed.

It may be the case that he died instantly, but that also may not be the case. The official final autopsy report and forensics analysis will determine that to whatever degree of certainty is possible.

Re: “Al v. Jazeera

The Gore-Hyatt-Al Jazeera lawsuit- essentially a private matter, though that is not say the betrayal is less than newsworthy, if only because it underscores that the "parent company"/country (Doha) can't be trusted- seems to have deflected attention from the
equally-if-not-more-newsworthy AT& T U-Verse-Al Jazeera America "settlement."

I don't see how AT&T could be compelled to carry Al Jazeera America after assuring U-verse customers (and AT & T shareholders) it had no plans to dance with the devil, nor for that matter do I understand why full terms of the "agreement" remain under seal.

But U-verse Channel 1219 is now AJAMHD and, while I must admit that in my limited viewing (of a network I would never subscribe to if I had an a la carte choice) I do not detect a hint of the bias I feared, I remain adamant in my opposition to my money (i.e., my meager ownership as an AT & T shareholder and the dollars AT & T takes from my U-verse payments to pay its bill to Al Jazeera America) being used to fund terrorists.

Re: “The Daily Links: Ferguson, Editors, and the EPL

Given that there was NO GSR on his head and that ALL eye witness accounts had him a significant distance from the shooter, angle of the shot would be moot, unless it was a glancing blow and that would be inconsistent with the autopsy description. Considerable brain trauma would result and if not instant death than instant paralysis would result. From the autopsy it was declared the fatal shot. It is my opinion that upon receiving that shot he was unable to retreat some distance, turn around and then raise his arms. Hence it is reasonable to believe upon receiving that head shot (2nd) he died almost immediately or at least was left unable to move.

As for the vile and pestilential yoyojohn, I DO know gunshot wounds. I have seen more, dressed more, placed more people in bags, and second guessed myself over more bullet trauma that you can even imagine. I am NOT in this discussion to "win or lose", I am simply expressing my opinion from the POV of someone who gives a shit (as opposed to oddments like you)!

Re: “Can Ferguson Happen Here?

yoyojohn is well aware of his dog whistle rhetoric. It is designed to get a rise out of those who are more reasonable than he and his alter egos/sock puppets and outraged by racial idiots. Then he will congratulate himself for being more racially tolerant than any others while on his way to the skinhead/Klan/bitter old fart Teahadist meeting! Ya gotta admit, without people like yoyojohn, who would buy all those Swastikas?

Re: “The Daily Links: Ferguson, Editors, and the EPL

All Sharpton adds to my misery Doyle! When I hear his name, I go into mini convulsions! Same with when I hear the names Jesse Jackson, Spotted algore, Hillary, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Nobama and that lesbian Rachel Maddow! And strangely enough, Frankie Munoz from Malcolm in the Middle, a show that I loved so much! There is no rhyme or rhythm to that one! But I seethe with anger at even the mention of the other names, provoking some strong chemical reactions that set off my convulsions! I'm getting a headache even thinking about it, thanks for nothing Doyle!

Re: “Belcourt's Blockbuster Boyhood Weekend

From the blog of Mark Harris (author of "Pictures at a Revolution" and "Five Came Back"):

"I hate 'Wait until you're older' as an argument. But Millennial cinephiles saying 'What's the big deal about BOYHOOD?' ... You're testing me."

I know what he's talking about. The twenty-somethings I know have no interest in seeing BOYHOOD. They're going back to see GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY for the second or third time. I liked GUARDIANS, too, but man does not live by CGI spectacle alone.

"Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be assholes!"

I'm not going to say it. It's just too easy.

"...refuse to call a spade a spade."

Did nobody ever tell yoyo that's not the best way to phrase that?

Re: “Can Ferguson Happen Here?

Okay, ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to offer a fix for the plight of African Americans. The biggest problem AAs have is that they are the most violent, crime prone segment of our population; that, and there are few responsible fathers mentoring their children. (When I do see a father with his kids, he doesn't know it but I give him a mental "thumbs up.") These problems need to be corrected and there is a way. The same way that caused the "N" word to be seldom heard or written anymore. Social pressure. Why not apply social pressure to the bad actors of the 'hood? Good people have to be involved, good people have to refuse to let the bad actors define their race. Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be assholes! Bad actors have to shown that their actions are not wanted and that they reflect on the community as a whole. Children have to be told that studying is not "acting white," studying is a way to a better future. Young people have to be made to know that gangs are bad for the community, that snitching on criminal behavior is not a bad thing. Manners, responsibility, and good behavior should become the hallmark of the community. Social pressure can cause all that to happen just like it caused the demise of the word that rhymes with "chigger." But change won't happen if good people of color don't demand it and guilt-ridden white racial cowards (aka Sharpton's bitches) refuse to call a spade a spade.
