We got married this year at Sambuca and brought our own priest, family, and friends. The staff and special indoor accomodations were perfect. Everyone enjoyed their delicious meals and drinks on the patio afterwards. I have been to Sambuca many times before and have always had a great experience. Glad that my wife and guests had a good time. Fun times... see you guys soon!
I went on a Sunday morning and couldn't have been more disappointed. The place was still showing signs of the night before. I ordered eggs benedict and got a combination of a cold, dry english muffin, cold ham, something that resembled an processed egg product, flat and tasteless, and topped with a congealed sauce. We were told immediately that they were out of jambalaya and shrimp although others around us were ordering shrimp. I think the community night life and cajun food is probably acceptable and maybe even good, but we we won't go back to find out. I got the impression that because of their reputation, our meal- or lack of, just didn't count. We were charged full price though we didn't eat it. Sorry patrons.

Got a groupon for this place.... got bbq plate w/ beans and slaw... my beans had a hair them....right from the start. Slaw wasn't all that good either. It was hot in the dining room, and the tables felt greasy to the touch, and it smelled dirty in there too. Not mention this place is in the GHETTO !!
The BB Kings, Carl Stewart & The All stars are a great band. a must see. Doyne & Johnnie Ratliff of Humboldt Tn.
I have been eating here since he opened his first site on Murfreesboro road and have continued to support him with his Smyrna site. However, after last night I will not visit either site again. I had the worst experience I have had up to date, from this restaurant (Murf. Road) or any restaurant for that matter.
I took my mom out for a Mother's day dinner, where I have taken her many, many years before since the food and service was always outstanding here. We arrived at 6:05, got seated. No one took our drink order, addressed us, acknowledged us until 6:14 - I was ready to leave, but my mom wanted to stay - I couldn't get anyone's attention to ask for our server. Our server was somehow medicated, not sure by what, but her speech and eyes were not normal. She took our order, we got our drinks, salad and bread. She then "verified" what we had ordered (she had written down, but couldn't read her writing).
The table behind was trying to tackle their server also, but their service was great compared to ours.
At 6:45 I went to the bar and asked to speak with a manager (1st time I requested a manager), the bartender assured me our food was coming.
At 6:50, here comes our food. My mom's order was correct, however, mine was no where near what I ordered - even after writing it down and verifying again. We were told mine was on it's way.
So, my mom ate and at 7:15 here came my food - my mom was done - they never told me it had to be cooked, never checked on me from 6:50 to 7:15. I asked four waitresses, including the bartender, for a manger 7 times. I was told Razz's wife was in the back and that was the only manager there. I never saw anyone except the bartender. No manager even attempted to come by our table.
She brought out my food - which I had requested to be cancelled 25 mins prior. She offered to take my portion off the bill. I told her I did not expect to pay for anything since I did not get to have dinner with my mother, on mother's day. I did not end up paying, but I think that is because I was getting louder with my frustration and they wanted me out of there.
This did not seem to be an "off" night to me. I know that Razz's brother was in the kitchen, I saw him. It is very sad that we were treated like this, from a place that I have visited since it opened. The last few times I ate at the Smyrna location, the service and food was also off - not to this degree, but enough to be noticed. I would say I eat here about once or twice every three months.
If you hit it on a good night, I'm sure it's good. I just wont be going back to either location to find that good night. It is a Mother's day that will not be forgotten - that's for sure.
Red has been closed for several years...it was replaced by Suzy Wong's House of Yum
I am a native New Mexican that has found my way here to Nashville. I must say that their enchiladas are the closest to home that I have found since leaving New Mexico. Only thing I would add is that they need to serve the sopapilla's with the meal, not after it. They are used like a bread roll out west. Fantastic food!
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
I placed a pick up order for lunch- 2 orders of shrimp pad thai. I picked up my order and went home to eat but while eating my meal I noticed that there were only 2 pieces of shrimp in my entire order. I was VERY disappointed in the fact that I was charged an additional $2 for shrimp and yet I only received 2 shrimp. I called the restaurant to speak to a manager to make a complaint about the amount of shrimp that I received in my order but instead of assisting me and acknowledging the issue, the manager proceeded to tell me that it was "impossible" for there to have only been 2 shrimp. Despite my attempts to explain to her that I had in fact counted and confirmed the existence of only 2 shrimp, she denied the possibility that more had not been included. She essentially called me a liar and refused to admit any fault. I live down the street from the restaurant and I have been there on several occasions. I have even recommended the restaurant to several of my friends. I will personally be telling EVERYONE I know about this horrible experience and I will recommend that no one eat there in the future. I have never received such horrible customer service and I can think of better businesses in the area that will appreciate my money.
I am using the recipe for Nero's Famous Scalded Corn Cakes today with my fish. I have used this recipe since in came out in the February 1976 issue of Ford Times magazine. My husband found the recipe and suggested that we try it since he doesn't eat hushpuppies. We live in middle Georgia and have never been to the restaurant in Nashville but love the corn cakes.

i'm from korea and this is by far the best korean restaurant in nashville. yes, service is slow and the restaurant's ambiance leaves something to be desired but the food is great and the hostess is really sweet.
Yes, this place has been closed for quite a long time!
Not a good place to work either! Management is not professional, fair or helping.
I'm in love with the Frothy Monkey. Friendly service, good food, and WiFi. Definitely has the coffee shop feel with chalkboard specials and early morning hours. I recommend the cider, the Nathan, and the soft chocolate chip cookies. I will return as always, and have yet to have a bad experience. Crossing my fingers.
I had put off giving them a try until recently, eagerly anticipating what I'd heard was authentic southern home-cooked vittles. Unfortunately, I was unpleasantly suprised. I got a rib plate to go with mac & cheese, white beans and the hot-water style cornbread hoe cakes. Roughly half of each small section of ribs was literally inedible. They'd been cooked WAY too long and were very dry and leathery. I already felt cheated, but this feeling became stronger when I realized with the first fork-full of the white beans that they were CANNED beans, with quite a bit of seasoning added in an unsuccessful attempt to both conceal this, and to keep time and labor to a minimum related to preparing actual home-cooked beans which require nothing more than a cold-water pre-soak and some ham hock and salt & pepper to result in an extremely tasty and therapeutic dish. The mac & cheese was pretty decent as was the cornbread, however the cornbread was room-temp at best and it was obvious it had been 'on standby' for a while since it left the skillet or fryer. My gut feeling (no pun intended) is to give them a second shot and order up different items the next time, but in my mind the canned white beans speaks volumes regarding their management/quality control ethics. There's not many things more annoying to me than springing eight or nine dollars for wanna-be southern quisine when that amount (and LESS) will buy you a very substantial and satisfying sit-down meal at other viable restaurants in the very same area of town.
Just ok. I had much higher expectations for Tayst, especially as an award-winning restaurant. The food was mediocre and the server had no knowledge of the menu.
very good food, very friendly service from Ms Kim
Re: “Mitchell Delicatessen”
I live in S.C.,travel alot, my husband and I agree that Mitchell's Deli is a five star. Breakfast is great also. Would not change a thing! I always buy dozen strips of cooked Benton's Bacon to take back home with us. The staff has never been nothing but polite to all of us including lots of friends that live in East Nashville. Believe me you would know if rude was an issue. We are their at least once a month for 3 or 4 days. We eat there at least 3 times each visit and we get the turkey avocoda to go to eat on our 8 hour travel back to South Carolina. Would love to have a Mitchell's Deli where we live. East Nashville is BLESSED. :-) The Branhams.
