Re: “Nero's Grill

I am using the recipe for Nero's Famous Scalded Corn Cakes today with my fish. I have used this recipe since in came out in the February 1976 issue of Ford Times magazine. My husband found the recipe and suggested that we try it since he doesn't eat hushpuppies. We live in middle Georgia and have never been to the restaurant in Nashville but love the corn cakes.

Re: “Manna Korean Restaurant

i'm from korea and this is by far the best korean restaurant in nashville. yes, service is slow and the restaurant's ambiance leaves something to be desired but the food is great and the hostess is really sweet.

Re: “Jewelry Palace

Absolutely awesome jewelry who does incredible work. I took a $90 mother's ring to them, and they designed an absolutely beautiful men's ring out of it. Very happy.

Re: “Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

Not a good place to work either! Management is not professional, fair or helping.

Re: “Carmike Hickory 8

I can't believe it's only $1.50. It's really clean and nice and I'm glad I gave it a try. We're going back this weekend as a matter of fact. I'm waiting for some other movies to come here to save a few bucks. Can't beat it. There used to be a $1 theatre where I lived previously, glad to see one here.

Re: “Frothy Monkey

I'm in love with the Frothy Monkey. Friendly service, good food, and WiFi. Definitely has the coffee shop feel with chalkboard specials and early morning hours. I recommend the cider, the Nathan, and the soft chocolate chip cookies. I will return as always, and have yet to have a bad experience. Crossing my fingers.

Re: “Commodore Lounge

I was saddened when the French Quarter closed and the NJO lost its home. But now I've been to see them at the Commodore and it is a great replacement....much better, actually! The setup is intimate, the sound is amazing, the band, of course kicks major butt...and it's easier to get to than the old venue. I will be back!

Re: “Bailey and Cato Family Restaurant

I had put off giving them a try until recently, eagerly anticipating what I'd heard was authentic southern home-cooked vittles. Unfortunately, I was unpleasantly suprised. I got a rib plate to go with mac & cheese, white beans and the hot-water style cornbread hoe cakes. Roughly half of each small section of ribs was literally inedible. They'd been cooked WAY too long and were very dry and leathery. I already felt cheated, but this feeling became stronger when I realized with the first fork-full of the white beans that they were CANNED beans, with quite a bit of seasoning added in an unsuccessful attempt to both conceal this, and to keep time and labor to a minimum related to preparing actual home-cooked beans which require nothing more than a cold-water pre-soak and some ham hock and salt & pepper to result in an extremely tasty and therapeutic dish. The mac & cheese was pretty decent as was the cornbread, however the cornbread was room-temp at best and it was obvious it had been 'on standby' for a while since it left the skillet or fryer. My gut feeling (no pun intended) is to give them a second shot and order up different items the next time, but in my mind the canned white beans speaks volumes regarding their management/quality control ethics. There's not many things more annoying to me than springing eight or nine dollars for wanna-be southern quisine when that amount (and LESS) will buy you a very substantial and satisfying sit-down meal at other viable restaurants in the very same area of town.

Re: “tayst [closed]

Just ok. I had much higher expectations for Tayst, especially as an award-winning restaurant. The food was mediocre and the server had no knowledge of the menu.

Re: “Carmike Hickory 8

I feel I must have to ask all these people who are so willing to put this facility down. I go there all the time and have never had a bad experience. Please tell me where you can go and see a good movie for $2.00 in a safe area. They do have security in the theatre and the staff have always been very helpful and courtious to me. Sometimes the way you treat people is what you get back from them. I appreciate the fact that there is an afforable place to see a decent movie. You pay alot to drive to movie rental places, then are on a time-frame to get the movies back on time.
I will continue to go there and see good movies. As for those who don't like the facility. Go and pay $7 or more per person. I bet you will still have something to complain about at the end of that movie as well.

Re: “Springwater

I reckon I've been shit-hammered a time or two in this joint. Closed 'er down and opened 'er up. Had a hoot and a holler, and a snoot and a swaller. It's a good ol' place.

Re: “Carmike Hickory 8

I enjoyed the movie but the building does need a little improvement. It smelled damp and felt damp and when we looked at the ceiling there was a big hole. I like the fact that it didn't cost much but the food was fine and the staff was friendly.

Re: “Carmike Hickory 8

I take my children to this theater every weekend and while the building could use some repairs the staff are friendly, the tickets are affordable, the rooms are clean and the popcorn is great! For all those who gave a bad or mixed review keep in mind you get what you pay for. TICKETS are $2!!!!!
