it's a place my soul has always known and hopefully always will
I'm in love with the Frothy Monkey. Friendly service, good food, and WiFi. Definitely has the coffee shop feel with chalkboard specials and early morning hours. I recommend the cider, the Nathan, and the soft chocolate chip cookies. I will return as always, and have yet to have a bad experience. Crossing my fingers.
I have eaten here several times. The food is great. The chief has come to my table and asked if everything was good a couple of times. This shows that chief Paul really cares about his customers. I know of a celeb or two that frequent the place so that is a plus. I think it is a cross between a casual diner and a touch of class.

One of my favs. Love spending a nice afternoon here or going here late night with my besties!
I was so shocked how filthy Star Bagel was. I took some friends from St. Thomas there for lunch and there was paint peeling, dust hanging from the ceiling vents, water stains everywhere, the floor was disgraceful. And the women's bathroom....well the sink was full of hair and the toilet was nasty....I left quickly. The bread on my sandwich was burnt with a "little" dab of chicken salad and they sent me the wrong soup.
I'll never go back until they clean up the place!
If you ever have the pleasure of tasting the mushroom brie soup you'll experience what its like to be in HEAVEN!! I wish I could bathe in it
Dinner was delicious. For appetizers we had homemade potato & thyme gnocchi w/ bacon, pecans, sour apple, greens, brown butter, and apple cider reduction which was superb. The flavors blended so well together and the gnocchi was perfect. The fried gulf oysters w/ radish, sriracha, lemon, micro greens were excellent – the oysters were tender and crunchy; not greasy. For dinner I had Gulf shrimp w/ Asian noodle & vegetable salad (cucumbers, bell peppers, carrots & cabbage), coconut curry sauce, peanuts, Thai basil & cilantro salad which was very tasty; just delicious. My friends had the TN raised strip steak w/ baby potatoes, grilled asparagus, béarnaise sauce which was a large portion and excellent, and the seared/broiled King clipper fish with sweet cream corn and caramelized beets also excellent. For dessert we split the peach and blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream. It was fine, but not memorable. The blackberries overpowered the peaches.
Service was excellent. Our waitress described in detail, and with enthusiasm, the dishes we were intrigued by. She was very attentive and responsive. She gets an A+.
Now for the bad news …. I rate the ambience an “F”. It was so UNBELIEVABLY loud. There was a combination of kitchen noise of clanking pots and dishes, customers and some music in the background. We couldn’t hear each other talk which only added to the decimals. The three us each left with a headache. The wall between the kitchen and dining room should go to the ceiling (add a fan in the kitchen if necessary) and add sound absorbing acoustical tiles to the ceiling.
When I lived in Nashville this was my favorite after hours spot to come to! My ex and I even wrote a skit based loosely on the cook!

My friends and I just left the Eastland Cafe and had the most embarrassing experience ever. First of all the hostess snarled at us for showing up without having a reservation. I have not noticed any indication that this was a reservation only restaurant. Even if it was a reservation only restaurant, she should have pointed that out to us. We were seated and RUSHED through our meal. At which point the hostess came over and told us that we had 5 minutes to vacate the table for the next customers!
Terrible food and high prices! I can't believe they are still in business. My gyro salad tasted terrible and almost chemically and cost me over $8 for lunch. Highest price in town. I will never return to this place
My husband and went after church for brunch. It was suggested by a friend. I was very impressed with the atmosphere and how nice everyone was. The food was great. I like the fact that everything is prepared fresh for you. I was worth the small wait that we had. I have gone since and will be going back for Sunday Brunch.
I've had the pasta and burgers here, and they're both really good. The atmosphere is pretty nice and laid back - definitely more towards a younger college-aged crowd. You can sometimes feel a little unwelcome from some of the patrons if you don't fit into the normal customer group, but I've never felt that from the service. It's a good place if you're really hungry at night because it is open 24 hours, but the area is a little scary if you have to park too far from the restaurant.
My girlfriends and I visited this relatively new spot after church for brunch. It was suggested to make reservations, which we did, for 1pm. We were seated promptly and seemed to be off to a good experience however after an hour of waiting and sipping our drinks, our food had not yet arrived. After about an hour and 20 minutes our order finally arrived in pieces with some of the finishing touches still missing. The food was lukewarm and bland. After paying, one of my friends was shorted .59 of her change she was owed and told that they had run out of change was the reason. I know this is a new spot and really hope that they can work out the kinks that comes along with a new business. I will patronage this business again in hopes that things will improve. This place has the makings of a great establishment but really needs to make some fine tuning.
I went in there after a long trip from Dallas, to be greeted by one of the owners, friendly and very accomodating. Its like coming to a friends house. I sat down to see beautiful rooms, local artwork all over the walls, also excellent photography from a local photographer. I ordered the Salmon Cakes. They were the best I have ever had! My daughter had the french toast, which was perfectly plated and garnished with fresh organic fruit! It was beautiful and neither of us left anything on the plate! I am going to go back there for New Years, b/c it was a wonderful place! i love it! What a local gem! I wish there one in dallas! They also told me they have free wifi...

The outside may fool you but this place has great tasting food...very friendly staff...they provide great service to their customers. They have a wide variety of food to choose from but I've only tried the chicken gyro and gyro platter with rice and a salad. It was great! Definitely 5 stars. I'll be returning soon....
