The food is great! I recently went there and the food is keeping me coming back regularly so far altho the price is a little high. But I must say the service is slow. The waitresses are slow, the kitchen is slow, and the bartender is slow to cash you out. Otrherwise I wouldve given them a 5 instead of 4. I could work circles around those waitresses

The Saucer is one of the best places to enjoy microbrews in a town with increasing choices. Service can be uneven and the food is unexceptional, but the staff trains regularly on the vast array of beer selections and the bartenders in particular are knowledgeable. If you are over twenty five you might prefer the vibe at happy hour and during weekend days as the place can become inundated with Vandy students on late evenings. Special events include beer tastings, a trivia night and live music from consistently average retro and alternative bands.

I've been going to the "new" Gerst Haus for years and always have had great food. The sausage sampler is great, as is the schnitzel. The kraut ball appetizer is always hard to pass up. They also have more traditional American food like chicken strips, burgers, etc. for the unadventurous. Very entertaining environment, even for families...especially when live German music is there. They also have a fantastic beer selection. The only criticism I have is that service can sometimes be lackluster and it can take awhile to get food sometimes. But well worth it.

I have been there a few Times and I liked it... Pizza was awesome... Im guessing “MiaM” seeing you posted 3 comments in a row early in the morning probably got fired from there or kicked out for good reason....How did you order Chicken when they refused service? Anyways I’ll go back for the pizza...when I get over to the greenhills area

The saucer offers a very knowledgeable staff. They can tell you what beer you will probably like, even if you aren't much of a beer drinker. It is very relaxed and has lots of comfortable seating. The beer garden is a great place to hang out, especially when the garage doors are open.

Yeah I agree this place is great! I've only been twice, but the draft selection is great, prices are great, and the staff is great...first reviewer obviously doesn't know what a bar and grill atmosphere is. Also I've never seen flies in there.

Whoever commented about the flies has never ate anywhere without being spoon fed! this is a BAR N GRILLE the burgers are the bomb, the wings are hurenduously hot, the salad is super shredded n tossed, n on top of that U have the choice of any draft beer upon the wall imaginable, n the music is superb! I love it N I live n Clarksville n Im actually making the trip tonite!

First and foremost the bar at 1010 Forrest is on the East Side, just over a mile from downtown Nashville, so it is pretty confusing as to why The Scene decided to give it a Franklin address. I realize that this will inevitably cause further confusion to Scene readers who read this review after they finally get around to fixing the error, as this introductory sentence will no longer be relevant.
Aaaaaaaanyways, there are multiple Red Door Saloons and no two are exactly alike. While the general theme is essentially the same in that they are thoroughly adorned with skulls and skeletons and take every opportunity possible to remind you that this is an alternative bar (at very least in theme), the two Nashville establishments vary largely in their respective clientele.
If you happen to be of the alternative persuasion you may not be all too fond of rubbing elbows with the largely clean-cut Division Street crowd who regard the setting as a mere theme, similar to a Mexican restaurant, per se, and to whom the bar is nothing more than another watering hole to line up Jager-bombs. (Just my experience)
On the other hand, if you think of yourself as more of the straight edge sort, you will more than likely feel as a "fish out of water" at the very least at the East Side location, which tends to take the alternative theme to almost comical levels. Here, you are likely to witness tatted-up bikers casually intermingling with wispy hipsters over pints and perhaps even the fabled overt cross-dresser, who hasn't mastered the art of applying foundation to mask facial stubble, yet sports a manicure and handbag that would render nearly any other woman green with envy. Thus is the spectacle that is Red Door East, which factors it's ambiance with its own built-in entertainment value along with notoriously stiff drinks as it's own tried and true recipe for developing a dedicated base of clientele that are always coming back for more. At least until they get cut off.

I passed through there back in the summer and got about what I was expecting...not much. BUT, I went by last week and saw a huge smoker fired up out back that smelld divine. I perceived to go by there after I finished my route that day and am glad to say I was pleasantly surprised. The new guy could answer any question I had about any of the food and let me even try some he had just finished. He said he'll have a new menu by the 1st. He put's his "stamp" on everything that comes out of there. Oh yea, did I mention...It's award winning BBQ. This might just be one of those little "best kept secrets". I'm going back...You might want to consider it too!!! W
