Re: “The Alley [Closed]

Great bartenders, cold beer and nice TV's to watch sports on. I am really disappointed with the fried food there....burgers and sandwiches are great...but they really need to change there grease more often. The prices of there shots (6.50 for Jack Danial's) is high. I will continue to drink there but my dining days are over.

Re: “Brewhouse 100

This is a great place to eat, drink and watch sports. The service is great, the food is even better. Per the first reviewer...any place that has a open air atmosphere there may be a few unwanted visitors. I have never experienced a insect problem the many many times I have been there ( I would be happy to offer my brand of soap if flies are a problem with you) Oh...and I do ride a Harley.

Re: “Gerst Haus

I've been going to the "new" Gerst Haus for years and always have had great food. The sausage sampler is great, as is the schnitzel. The kraut ball appetizer is always hard to pass up. They also have more traditional American food like chicken strips, burgers, etc. for the unadventurous. Very entertaining environment, even for families...especially when live German music is there. They also have a fantastic beer selection. The only criticism I have is that service can sometimes be lackluster and it can take awhile to get food sometimes. But well worth it.

The absolute BEST barbecue and BEST service on music row. The musical talent featured is remarkable as well. HIGHLY recommended!

Re: “The Station Inn

We were there last month and Vince Gil and Toby Keith played as well. Vince plays with The Time Jumpers whenever he is in town. awesome show and a great time every time we go!

Re: “Joe's Place

I ordered a grilled chicken salad at Joe's and the chicken wasn't cooked. I'm not talking like slightly pink...it was still raw! I know a sports bar is probably not a place to have high expectations for food, but come on! Cook your meat!

Re: “Joe's Place

I'm Phillipino and went to Joe's for the first time. They refused service to me which made me pretty pissed off....especially when I heard Jenna, the bartender, call me the "black guy." Racist bar!

Re: “Joe's Place

I went into Joe's late night for a last of the night drink. I came out of the bathroom and my friend was being yelled at by the bartender for adding on drinks because he wanted to pay for a round for everyone. The yelling quickly turned into the bartender coming out from behind the bar and refusing service to our group because she had been working for 8 hours and did not want to deal with people that couldn't make up their mind. She proceeded to push me. SHE PUSHED ME! I couldn't believe that I was being physically assualted for coming out of the bathroom into a conversation that included a request for a few additional beers. Isn't that what bartenders are hired to do? Needless to say, Jenna Sealy is what I was told her name was. Any place that hires someone to bar tend late night with that sort of aggression should not been seen as an end of the night place to go...or a place to go to at all. Jenna Sealy should be refused any role as a bartender in Nashville going forward...trust me it doesn't take much to please your customers...I bartended for 7 years. Joe's is a hole in the wall that now has the risk of physical assault embedded in it.

Re: “Flying Saucer Draught Emporium

The saucer offers a very knowledgeable staff. They can tell you what beer you will probably like, even if you aren't much of a beer drinker. It is very relaxed and has lots of comfortable seating. The beer garden is a great place to hang out, especially when the garage doors are open.

Re: “Brewhouse 100

Yeah I agree this place is great! I've only been twice, but the draft selection is great, prices are great, and the staff is great...first reviewer obviously doesn't know what a bar and grill atmosphere is. Also I've never seen flies in there.

Re: “Red Door Saloon

First and foremost the bar at 1010 Forrest is on the East Side, just over a mile from downtown Nashville, so it is pretty confusing as to why The Scene decided to give it a Franklin address. I realize that this will inevitably cause further confusion to Scene readers who read this review after they finally get around to fixing the error, as this introductory sentence will no longer be relevant.
Aaaaaaaanyways, there are multiple Red Door Saloons and no two are exactly alike. While the general theme is essentially the same in that they are thoroughly adorned with skulls and skeletons and take every opportunity possible to remind you that this is an alternative bar (at very least in theme), the two Nashville establishments vary largely in their respective clientele.
If you happen to be of the alternative persuasion you may not be all too fond of rubbing elbows with the largely clean-cut Division Street crowd who regard the setting as a mere theme, similar to a Mexican restaurant, per se, and to whom the bar is nothing more than another watering hole to line up Jager-bombs. (Just my experience)
On the other hand, if you think of yourself as more of the straight edge sort, you will more than likely feel as a "fish out of water" at the very least at the East Side location, which tends to take the alternative theme to almost comical levels. Here, you are likely to witness tatted-up bikers casually intermingling with wispy hipsters over pints and perhaps even the fabled overt cross-dresser, who hasn't mastered the art of applying foundation to mask facial stubble, yet sports a manicure and handbag that would render nearly any other woman green with envy. Thus is the spectacle that is Red Door East, which factors it's ambiance with its own built-in entertainment value along with notoriously stiff drinks as it's own tried and true recipe for developing a dedicated base of clientele that are always coming back for more. At least until they get cut off.

Re: “Bailey's Sports Grille

A group of 6 of us travelled to Nashville from Toronto for the weekend. The primary purpose was to watch a Bills-Titans game (a few hard-core Bills fans in the group, the rest just hard-core sports fans). The weekend grew to add the Habs-Preds game on the Saturday night. A few of us were also interested in watching the final round of qualfiers for the 2010 world cup. I found Bailey's on the web and was able to speak to Adam, one of the managers, who assured me he would do everything possible to get the Ukraine-Greece game on one of the many TVs in the place. Upon our arrival at noon on Saturday, and in spite of being busy with several local university football games going on (vandy-tennessee, kentucky-ole miss), Adam greeted us warmly and took us up to a private room where there were 6 very comfortable armchairs and several TVs. We were well looked after by an incredible waitress and the only reason we left was that there was a hockey game to go to. We returned after taking in the Bills-Titans game the following day, and watched the afternoon game and also the great Sunday nighter between the Pats and the Colts. Combined with the exceptional live music from the neighbouriong honky-tonks, Bailey's made our Nashville weekend a truly memorable experience.

Re: “Joe's Place

I passed through there back in the summer and got about what I was expecting...not much. BUT, I went by last week and saw a huge smoker fired up out back that smelld divine. I perceived to go by there after I finished my route that day and am glad to say I was pleasantly surprised. The new guy could answer any question I had about any of the food and let me even try some he had just finished. He said he'll have a new menu by the 1st. He put's his "stamp" on everything that comes out of there. Oh yea, did I mention...It's award winning BBQ. This might just be one of those little "best kept secrets". I'm going back...You might want to consider it too!!! W

Re: “Red Door Saloon

avoid!! this is one of those places that will not allow you to relax to the lifestyle or music you enjoy. if you dont fit their "poser" mold, then you will find yourself denied. They even have a sign that says you can not choose Country Music to listen to :( There are many great bars in Nashville that accept everyone...we should be beyond this, avoid this place at all costs.

Re: “Jonathan's Grille

Jonathans has always been one of my fave restaurants. Yesterday we went to the one in Bellevue and it had changed to AJ's. Was not as good, prices higher and no beer specials except $2 bottles after 10. Nachos for $8 was pitiful and you hardly even got any. Not impressed
