Re: “Firefly Grille

Firefly has been my favorite for years BUT something has changed. The food was served with disinterest, the dish was not in the least inspired and my friend was being very polite about her cold mound of something. (I was afraid to ask). I had insisted that I treat her to the mac and cheese. Big mistake. Where did all that inspired good food go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perhaps riding on reputation, but it will not take long for Nashville to catch on and find another favorite.

Re: “J. Alexander's

The oak brook Il, restaurant has issue with the manager 12-02-14 time 2:55pm
I asked the manager if he could try to quiet down the table with 8 adults who were shouting and acting like they were at a football game. The manager said that they would be leaving soon. He did not go to that table and say anything to them about the noise.
This continued for the next 40 minutes that we were there. I felt that the manager was happy to make money of the alcohol that they were al drinking and to hell with all the rest of the customers in the restaurant.

Re: “Antonios' of Nashville

On the advice of a local (who takes her family here often) we tried Antonios. From the condescending "I'll see if there is any place to seat you" after replying that we didn't have a reservation to the poor service and long wait for our food our dinner was a disaster. Our wait person was perky and knowledgeable taking our order. Salads were brought as ordered. We sat, and sat and sat. After 25 minutes she came back to tell us our dinners would be out in 2 minutes. Another 15 minutes later the manager came by and said our dinners would be right out. Another 15 minutes later it was, with 5 steak knives for 2 steaks as if that made things right. We ate our average meals and sat while staff walked by our table, not picking up our dishes on their way to the kitchen. We should have gotten up and walked out, paying the manager as we left. She came with the dessert tray (!) and I asked for the bill. After another 10 minutes waiting for my credit card to be picked up we put on our coats and she came running over. I asked her what the problems were. She said everything was OK. I stopped by to talk to the manager who told me it was the waitperson's fault for not turning in our ticket. I also talked to him about my experiences with staff who help each other out-or not as is the case in this place. He told me he hoped we would come back again. Why would we when there are so many other wonderful places to eat where they treat you like a valued customer instead of the red headed step child? We were at a workshop so there are now 13 people and their friends and family who will be spreading the word that this is a place to avoid.

Re: “Bricktop's

Run away if anyone asks you to go to brunch there. The decor is the best thing I can say about this place. For the first time in my life, I left a restaurant hungry and had to get something to eat afterwards after spending $60 at this culinary dump! I ordered the hueos rancheros which was two eggs laced with a little sauce on two corn tortillas. It was six bites and nothing else on the plate. No black beans no salso and no chorizo as advertised on the menu. I should have sent it back the minute I saw it. Unbelievable. I should have taken a picture with my cell phone. You would not have believed it.

Re: “Bound'ry Restaurant

After having a wonderful experience at the bar we were seated to experience 1 star service. After having to choose from a limited menu.... Some food came out cold and others came out just plain inedible. We did have a party of 8 and knowing how that can be I can understand some confusion. After waiting nearly 1 hour and 45 minutes for our bill WE had to search for a manager.. The managers were just as confused as the waiter... There was nothing they would do other than pay for a round of drinks while they figured bills out (which was nice) but nothing other.. After bad food and bad service we will not be setting foot back in this restaurant... Please don't waist your money or time.. There are other restaurants in town to spend your time and money!

Re: “Mad Platter

My husband and I thought we would catch a nice dinner before meeting friends downtown later in the evening. On the Saturday night of 8/26/12 (8pm seating), the restaurant was only 30% full with no one waiting for a table. Now we know why:

The kitchen and/or server lost our dinner order for over an hour; the waitstaff was apologetic but nonplussed (i.e., "this happens all the time") .

My husband requested no onions in one dish which, when finally delivered an hour and a half after ordering, was chock full of onions - with much more onions than any normal recipe might have reasonably been expected to include (Shrimp and grits), which felt like an intentional slight after an hour and a half of waiting for the order.

Duck and gnocchi: Duck breast was properly prepared (juicy and rare) but gnocchi was dry (undercooked) and the dish had no sauce to speak of on the plate.

We are extremely easy to please and aren't true foodies. The restaurant did comp the Shrimp and grits and offered a dessert gratis, which was a good effort to appease. However, we can't return here with clients or friends due to the uncertainty of the food and service, so we will not be back.

I should also point out to the dating community that the atmosphere is dreary and spartan and therefore Mad Platter is not a good choice to impress a dinner date.

Perhaps you'll have better luck.

Re: “Raz'z Jazz Bar and Grill

I have been eating here since he opened his first site on Murfreesboro road and have continued to support him with his Smyrna site. However, after last night I will not visit either site again. I had the worst experience I have had up to date, from this restaurant (Murf. Road) or any restaurant for that matter.

I took my mom out for a Mother's day dinner, where I have taken her many, many years before since the food and service was always outstanding here. We arrived at 6:05, got seated. No one took our drink order, addressed us, acknowledged us until 6:14 - I was ready to leave, but my mom wanted to stay - I couldn't get anyone's attention to ask for our server. Our server was somehow medicated, not sure by what, but her speech and eyes were not normal. She took our order, we got our drinks, salad and bread. She then "verified" what we had ordered (she had written down, but couldn't read her writing).

The table behind was trying to tackle their server also, but their service was great compared to ours.

At 6:45 I went to the bar and asked to speak with a manager (1st time I requested a manager), the bartender assured me our food was coming.

At 6:50, here comes our food. My mom's order was correct, however, mine was no where near what I ordered - even after writing it down and verifying again. We were told mine was on it's way.

So, my mom ate and at 7:15 here came my food - my mom was done - they never told me it had to be cooked, never checked on me from 6:50 to 7:15. I asked four waitresses, including the bartender, for a manger 7 times. I was told Razz's wife was in the back and that was the only manager there. I never saw anyone except the bartender. No manager even attempted to come by our table.

She brought out my food - which I had requested to be cancelled 25 mins prior. She offered to take my portion off the bill. I told her I did not expect to pay for anything since I did not get to have dinner with my mother, on mother's day. I did not end up paying, but I think that is because I was getting louder with my frustration and they wanted me out of there.

This did not seem to be an "off" night to me. I know that Razz's brother was in the kitchen, I saw him. It is very sad that we were treated like this, from a place that I have visited since it opened. The last few times I ate at the Smyrna location, the service and food was also off - not to this degree, but enough to be noticed. I would say I eat here about once or twice every three months.

If you hit it on a good night, I'm sure it's good. I just wont be going back to either location to find that good night. It is a Mother's day that will not be forgotten - that's for sure.

Re: “tayst [closed]

Just ok. I had much higher expectations for Tayst, especially as an award-winning restaurant. The food was mediocre and the server had no knowledge of the menu.

Re: “Merchants

The new owner's "overhaul" shows, but in a bad way. I had heard he got rid of the mgr, chef and all the kitchen staff; it shows. Food has suffered and with these overpriced entrees, I won't give them many chances.

Re: “Urban Flats [Closed]

Over priced. I also asked if they validated parking in the garage, was told they did, but then really they didn't validate. I hate having to pay for parking at an establishment I'm already giving money to. Valet was not there that day either.

Re: “Darfons

The price is way to high for quality of their food selection. Which isn't that great anyway!

Re: “Mad Donna's

Re: “Firefly Grille

We had a horrible dining experience with the rude staff. We immediately felt rushed by Doug, our waiter, as he made the comment to our table that he was on a schedule. They hovered the table all night which I thought was great service until I realized the hovering was because they were rushing us out. Finally the extra rude man with the suprisingly outdated soccer haircut came to our table and asked us to leave because people were waiting on the table. Really?? Is this great customer service? You definitely should ask if your reservation is on a timeline because apparently our reservation had a timeline which was not communicated. A table for 8 and 1.5 hours in the resturant seems reasonable to me. Upon leaving another staff member ran to the parking lot to tell us she was sorry for the way her "socially dysfunctional" colleagues treated us. We will never go back there....I have had a few bad dining experiences but this one goes straight to the top. Way to go rude Doug and soccer haircut man!!

Re: “Rumba Rum Bar and Satay Grill [Closed]

Pre Dave matthews dinner was horrible, wanted to drop a line to let you know of our first"(and probably last) visit to this establishment. The food was good. Very unique menu , but the service we recieved was beyond poor, it took us 15 min to get our drinks, I had water due to the designated driver. and with 5 bartenders working it took several attempts to get our second round, we had to stop another waitress and ask her to get our drinks. Several people were around us experiencing the same situation. Very poor birthday dinner experience. The concert was good though.
