Re: “Sexy Coffee

Went to see the Sexy Coffee tonight (opening night) and I must say I was extremely impressed with the show. Despite being initially confused when the first act started (with only a solo actresses that was live... and with other cast members “on stage” above the main stage virtually)… it is a must see (a rare great one for Nashville).

I also loved that it was just over an hour long for the entire play. (Perfect for myself with a short attention span on especially for someone that might be on a date night… and we were able to have dinner at a reasonable time after the show.)

Five out of five stars on my card! -Scott

Re: “Free to Live

This seminar was worth so much more than it cost. The facilitator was great. We were not just sitting listening to someone talk, and it was not the fluffy, "You are wonderful", motivational speech that cost twice as much. This seminar was interactive with break out sessions, open forum and the host presented information that actually made a difference in my life. Just 3 months later and I have already seen positive feedback and changes in my life. I recommend this event to everyone !!!!

Re: “Verona Red w/17 Stories

Verona Red was great but 17 Stories stole the show. I guess they are a new band but they didn't sound like it.

Re: “Live and Direct Hip Hop Showcase feat. Murs, 9th Wonder, Freddie Gibbs & more

I can't wait to see this! This is the type of event I could only have dreamed of a couple years back. The Nashville hip hop scene is really growing and I appreciate publications such as yourself for helping our scene expand in a major way!

Re: “Yuck w/Porcelain Raft

I enjoyed the more intimate crowd. And these guys were very good in my opinion. I can't wait to see them again.

Re: “Hack Nashville Circuit Bending Ball

Very excited about going to this! I missed out on last year's Circuit Bending Ball but I did catch Tony Youngblood's slot car piece at Blackbird's mentioned above. I was really impressed by the creativity and engineering he puts into his pieces. I'm very glad that The Scene is interested in allowing these types of media to be showcased and noted here. I think this is the start of a very creative movement that's going to be getting a lot more attention soon. Kudos to those involved and kudos to The Scene.

Re: “Bennett and Scruggs

How could the cool "Scene" not give this show a critics pick? Two former Br5-49ers on one stage?!

Re: “Bill McKibben Lecture: Global and Local: Reports from the Fight for a Working Planet

Mr. McKibben was engaging and informative. He made the science of climate change accessible to the non-scientist. It was often clear that he had great compassion for those around the globe who are beginning to face the effects of climate change.

Re: “Anna Kate Dunn Album Release feat. Innocent Flannel

Anna Kate Dunn's new album "Fly Away" is not just another Nashville small time country release. Her writing is all about life and experiences everyone could relate to. In addition Anna Kate Dunn was not afraid to show her heart and her imagination. The portrait that the album paints is exactly like her personality and her life time of experience with music. Her young age creates a feeling of our own early days but do not be fooled. Her ability and experience as a musician will surpass most people twice her age and in the same genre. Simply put she has skill most people dream about and work for their entire life.
Sincerely, John Anthony Schwab IV "Jake"

Re: “Christy Eidson: Laugh or Die

Christy Eidson's Laugh or Die is awesome. The way she communicates with the audience, you feel like she is conversing with you personally, like family. I highly recommend seeing this show, what a story!!!

Re: “Amber Digby & Midnight Flyer

just to clarify...Ricky Davis isn't on steel (even though he's a great picker)...on steel is Dave Biller...he's been in the band for 2 years...he's a great player and shares steel duties with the legendary Dicky Overbey...we're looking forward to the show!... :)

Re: “Grace Potter and the Nocturnals w/Carolina Chocolate Drops

Just saw their show (Sunday night) at the Ryman and it was the most ridiculously good concert that I've seen in quite a while. The band and Grace seem slightly nuts but there is some kind of back door genius to what they're doing. They're not quite country, a little heavier on the rockin' side of things with just enough soul thrown in to keep things off balance enough to make their sound something all their own.
Do yourself a favor and go see GPN while they're in town.
You'll be glad you did.
