2014 Inter-'Nash'-ional Food Crawl

When: Sat., Aug. 30, 12 p.m. 2014
Price: $10
Last year the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition invited the rest of the city to take a culinary cruise down Nolensville Road, expecting, oh, 100 people or so to sample participating restaurants along a two-mile corridor. Instead, more than 300 showed up, and by day’s end the city’s Avenue of the Americas looked like Kansas after a locust rampage. Being more popular than you thought is a great problem to have, and this year TIRRC and the event’s vendors say they’re prepared for the crowds. The cuisines on display include Kurdish, Middle Eastern, Colombian, Cuban, Indian and Mexican, and at each stop folks will share information about the culture represented there; $10 plus a map distributed at Casa Azafrán allows you to snack your way around the world without leaving South Nashville. Want to see how vibrant the city’s food scene really is? Start your engines. Noon-3 p.m. at participating restaurants; start at Casa Azafrán, 2195 Nolensville Road. JIM RIDLEY
