12th Annual Avant-Garage Sale Expo at The Arts Company

Everything Must Go!

Everything Must Go!
Do a YouTube search for an old Crazy Eddie commercial, click play, and substitute “paintings,” “sculpture” and “photography” for “TVs” “air conditioners” and “electronics,” and you’ll get some idea what to expect at the 12th Annual Avant-Garage Sale Expo. The venerable downtown gallery, which was on Fifth Avenue waaaay before Fifth Avenue was cool, is selling artwork, furniture, art books, décor—even two vintage book presses (if they haven’t sold already)—all from gallery archives, and at surprisingly affordable prices. This year’s event includes a new component, The Art Exchange, which features art from private collections and estates. Prices for this weekend’s closing sale will be slashed even further to make room for new fall inventory. Or as Crazy Eddie might put it, “Remember, we ARE NOT undersold, we will NOT BE undersold, we CANNOT be undersold! And we MEAN IT! Everything must GO! These prices are INNNNNSAAAANE!”
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Aug. 1. Continues through Aug. 22, 2009
