The Pink Spiders at Mercy Lounge, 8/6/2016
Pink Spiders fans in the house were likely heartened to learn last fall that the post-Weezer rock outfit was gearing up to release Mutations, its first album in almost a decade, via a PledgeMusic campaign. The campaign didn't pan out, but, in an email to the Cream, frontman Matt Friction says the Spiders plan to give it another try after fans get a taste of some new music.
Tuesday, the band launched a new website that features a cache of photos, offers access to their entire catalog via Bandcamp and includes a space for upcoming tour dates (no shows have been announced yet).Â
Perhaps of the most interest to Spiderheads will be two new offerings in the online store: a video of the band's August 2016 reunion show available for download May 1, and a 7-inch featuring two new songs, "Black Dagger" and "Easier Than Ever." The expected release date for the single is June 13, though turnaround time at the vinyl pressing plant may push that time back. You'll get a digital download immediately, however, if you preorder.
