Hear Friendship Commanders Cover Iodine's Eerie 'Swan Dive' [Fresh Track]

Iodine was one of the quintessential Nashville rock bands of the 1990s: supremely talented and beloved by its fans — Cannery complex talent buyer John Bruton once told the Scene that the group "helped make the ’90s bearable" —  despite never achieving major commercial success.

The chops they honed didn't go unnoticed either: Frontman Jay Joyce became an in-demand producer whose more recent credits include one of Cage the Elephant's best records yet (2013's Melophobia), and drummer Brad Pemberton and bassist Chris Feinstein both went on to play with a slew of great artists, including Americana phenom Ryan Adams. 

Sadly, Feinstein died in New York in December 2009. His memory (and that of Iodine) lives on in myriad ways, and today you can add one more. With the intent of raising awareness about addiction, B. Arson and Jerry Roe's ferocious punk outfit Friendship Commanders has recorded a cover of "Swan Dive," the eerie opening track from Iodine's 1998 album Baby Grand. In the studio, they used one of Feinstein's basses (a Gibson Ripper, if you were wondering) and one of his guitars, as well.
