Country singer Garth Brooks is one of a cast of thousands who have stood in line at this 40-year-old landmark for a plate of buttermilk pancakes. According to owner David Baldwin, if the line is to the door, the wait is about 15 minutes; the wait is twice as long if the line is to the corner; and count on at least 45 minutes if it snakes down 21st Avenue.
Pancake Pantry is the ultimate Nashville breakfast. It really beats all. But because of this, you can bet that on a weekend morning, there will be lines down the street to get in. You'd best avoid lines by going towards the end of their day (3:00pm).
On May 16th I learned on how to be seated quickly at Pancake Pantry. I was having breakfast with friends. The food was good as always. It was raining and there was a line outside. A man and woman entered thru the back door and asked a waitress they knew if she had a table. She seated them in front of everyone else. So next time it is raining and a line, just remember enter thru the back door and ask the tall gray hair lady to seat you.
