Well I'm not sure what exactly you're talking about there, Stacy. Could you please elaborate?

Bombing a lesbian bar and the Olympics is NOT a way to deal with abortion - comprehensive sex ed and available birth control are.

Re: “The Black Belles' Olivia Jean to Release Jack White-Produced Debut Solo LP Oct. 14

If you watch her live videos on youtube, she sounds terrible. Her voice cracks.
Just a product of Jack's casting couch. Gross.

Re: “Listen To The Arguments Against Same Sex Marriage Get Destroyed

This story has been up nearly twelve hours like a red flag and not a peep out of yoyo. Has yoyo hard-on given up on the same sex marriage debate like the 'publicons have given up on attacking Obamacare? That sounds like progressive progress to me. Newly minted. What, what?

Can't comment on Nance Place but, given what I know about Ryman Lofts, well, you know what they say about Karma...

Re: “Wholly Chow Does Down-Home Right

I had lunch there with several friends. We all thought the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Portions were large. We plan to eat there again on a regular basis. If BB Cutie is your thing, you probably are not going to like any of the quality food that I like. Be SURE to have the banana pudding and the chocolate mocha brownie at Wholly Chow. They are awesome. So's the seafood gumbo, red beans and rice, ......

Re: “100 Percent of Students Passing Social Studies Is A Problem

Damn, JC, you have pursued me to this board.

Wait a minute, here is what you say:

"There is a distinct difference between having reading issues and being below proficiency levels expected, and "barely read(ing)" "" (now about apostrophes?)

Profiency=skill, expertise.... and that is what I think.

I am of the opinion this common definition differs from our school definition. I am serious and not being difficult. What about all this? And, you say "issue"s... what is that all about.

Re: “By punting on its own policy, MNPS opens Metro to a likely damburst of charters

A serious problem that needs to be addressed is growth in certain areas. Why is the metro planning commission allowing growth in areas where schools are already overcrowded?.....wait, I know ....MONEY! Children again take the back seat because tax revenue is more important.

Re: “Listen To The Arguments Against Same Sex Marriage Get Destroyed

Actually, I think Pragmatist has the right basis for striking down these discriminatory laws. They do violate the equal protection clause.

There is also the full faith and credit provision now that so many states have legalized gay marriage.

"If most sudents can barely read "

There is a distinct difference between having reading issues and being below proficiency levels expected, and "barely read(ing)". You are practicing the strategy of overstating your criticisms and judgments (dubious though they be) via gross exaggeration! Hence your observations are flawed.........again, yoyojohn!

Re: “Listen To The Arguments Against Same Sex Marriage Get Destroyed

Not laws, Prag, arguments, justifications for discrimination. To base su8ch on religious principles alone would be a promotion of religious principles, and for those against such principles would have a constitutional argument.
Example: Murder, though based in religious principles, there are compelling arguments against it that have nothing to do with religion. Restricting commerce on Sunday because of it's consideration of being a holy day in Christiandom, unless compelling arguments against Blue Laws can be presented, and none come to my mind at this minute, it SHOULD be considered void on constitutional basis.
The fact is there are absolutely NO compelling arguments and reasons for denying SSM. Only religious objections have ANY sense of reason behind them, and that is quite flawed IMHO, and unconstitutional for consideration.
Such laws DO violate the equal protection dynamic of the constitution, but religious considerations are also invalid. And we all know that is the base incentive for politicos to make SSM an issue!

Re: “100 Percent of Students Passing Social Studies Is A Problem

I think all bets are off.

I looked at the new standards (?).....

Anyway, that seemed reasonable, but looking at the proficiency scores and finding most cannot read well, at least in MNPS, then the curious 100% scores become even curiouser (!!)

I have posted before and will try again. The lack of reading skills makes all subject scores suspect. I have a bad feeling about just what proficient really means.

If most sudents can barely read how can one design an appropriate test?

Maybe they read better than I believe- and that is possible. I just do not understand the testing and scoring.

Doors are at 7. Show starts at 8. Two openers. Approx 30 minute sets for each with small transition time in between, then SRB will play. Definitely a kid friendly space.
