Was everyone listening "Vandy Radio" on an HD radio?
When you meet the right person you have zero misgivings - absolutely none.
Quit making shit up then, Zoombah.
If you want to have a grown up discussion, act like a grown up. If you'd like more of what you're having with Jim, carry on as you have been.
Man. Those "Nashville Dancin" lineups are somethin'.
@AnglRdr: Please stop wasting my time.
Thank you.
Please open all the hyperlinks, they are hilarious, especially "emo Spiderman" and "Deal With It."
It would be nice if Nashville had a food and wine festival similar to Charleston where you could pick and choose from different events. $550 for myself and wife. Looks like this will be an event for the upper class.
Interesting omission from your overall list...Davis Deluxe...In 1984, in Music Row Magazine, Robert K. Oremann called their debut single release, "One Of A Kind", "The best rock-a-ballad I've heard by a Nashville band...Sung by an ace rock stylist...This act could go far"...Followup recordings were met with even greater critical acclaim, including a Billboard Recommended review for their third single, "When The Lights Go Down" as well as another glowing review in Music Row by Bob Oremann for it...The band continued on until the early '90's with some of Nashville's heavy hitter session players becoming members at times, including drummer Kenny Buttrey and guitarist Bucky Barrett...Yes, I knew the band personally, hence the "plug", just filling in some blanks...
Of course, if the Internet sales tax doesn't get passed, then he's going to have to find another way to pay for the elimination of the estate tax.
Hey, by the way, Ramsey - where were you on "market fairness" when Amazon landed in the state without them having to collect sales tax? Or why don't you sic the TN Department of Revenue on the thousands of use tax scofflaws in the state if you're so principled about it? Oh, wait. You want the federal government TO DO IT FOR YOU.
Correct, it was 2010(http://www.nashvillescene.com/pitw/archives/2010/05/21/democratic-party-names-top-targets-in-state-house-races). And thankfully Jeff Woods understood spin when he heard it, unlike the this story's author.
Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to enjoy a day at the races in an appropriate manner. Fortunately, thanks to a strong, coordinated effort between Iroquois Steeplechase management and Metro Police, incidents like this are far from the norm and are continuing to decline. As you can see at the end of this video, Police arrived and put a halt to this incident. Because of a stepped up partnership between the Steeplechase and Nashville's public safety officers, very few incidents like this occurred. Of course, we will not be satisfied until they never occur, and Steeplechase management will continue to devote the resources necessary to move us toward this goal. - Iroquois Steeplechase
@Zoombah: "You appear to want it to say that the 1994 AWB reduced crime significantly, which is not the case."
What did I say that led you to that conclusion? Please quote directly.
Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica ... lolllllzzz
just a quick word about the R rating: the rating is more to let people know that there is some serious adult content in the show, but it isn't as strictly enforced as it would be in a movie theatre. like martin mentioned, the show is about kids after all...and my 17 year old loved it. if you have a 16 year old or even a mature 15 year old who is familiar with some of the conventions of theater, then i'd say bring them. the nudity is brief, tasteful, and can be easily ignored.
I actually agree with Ramsey on this issue, largely (I think internet sales need to be taxed like in-person purchases), I think the bill is terrible.
On the other hand, I just want to see this event happen for the lulz.
I'm interested to know where Betsy falls on the issue of an internet sales tax. Is she willing to listen to and discuss opposing views on this topic. Or, is she a low-info citizen just looking for daytime-tv-style bread-and-circuses, all the while bringing dishonor to Tennessee with regards to our more refined East and West Coast compatriots.
Mr. Ironic Fact Checker, Chip Forrester never said Dems would take back the House in 2012.
Metaphor: FAIL!
Charges for the services received started under Purcell, not Dean.
If the Metro Council wants to keep the Fairgrounds, they should fund it.
Are Scene reporters barred from researching their topics before writing? Did you do even a rudimentary analysis of the district, like, say, looking at the number of Democratic primary voters vs. Republican primary voters(all public record and would take maybe 5 minutes with a high school level understanding of excel). This is almost certainly one of, if not the most Democratic Senate seats that isnt majority minority. Just because the Republicans say they have shot isn't reason to believe it and write a story suggesting it, what are they supposed to say,"We drew this district as safely Democratic so we could pick up SD20"? Did you believe Chip Forrester when he said the Democrats would take back the House in 2012?
The Scene is good at reporting political gossip and commenting on bat shit crazy legislation but y'all consistently fail at having even a basic understanding of electoral politics.
Re: “With the legendary Sen. Douglas Henry out of the picture in 2014, District 21 is up for grabs — perhaps even to the GOP”
Rather than these Henry voters waking up and realizing they liked Henry more than Democrats, it seems much likelier to me that the district's love of Henry is what allowed him to continue in the Senate despite his conservatism (and some really risible behavior). I think you can take from Yarbro's almost-coup, and all of our other local officials, that the district can easily support someone bluer than Henry. I was happy to support Yarbro then and now.
I'm no analyst but the idea that a Republican is going to triumph over one of two extremely popular local liberals is just a laugh.
