Re: “The Weekly Open Thread: What Are Your Favorites of the New Restaurant Crop?

Peg Leg Porker and Villalba (off the beaten path at Nipper's Corner) are two not listed that I like a lot. I don't know if Burger Republic is still considered 'new', but for my dollar they are the best burgers in town and have a great beer selection. Gus's, also at Nippers Corner, for fried chicken.

I thought Husk is overrated as well. Sinema was very good. Loved the fried octopus appetizer.

City House, as always, is the go to restaurant for any special occasion or otherwise.

Re: “A Nashville woman battles a three-year legal ordeal — on charges of neglecting a child she didn't know

this is the kind of reporting and cover article I like to see from the Scene. Have I wondered what it's like to stand outside in a gorilla suit hawking products on a street corner? NO. more of the former type of story, please.

Re: “100 Percent of Students Passing Social Studies Is A Problem

Best of the "new new": Two Ten Jack and 404 Kitchen

Most underrated: Lockeland Table

Most overrated: Husk and Sinema

Not impressed: 312 Pizza

Re: “100 Percent of Students Passing Social Studies Is A Problem

I made an incorrect statement and I acknowledged that, something you in your many persona's have NEVER done. Now I understand your obsession to denigrate me constantly, so have at it, but my previous mistake have absolutely NOTHING to do with this subject. If you are expecting to throw my self prostate at your feet and beg forgiveness, you are sadly mistaken. THAT tactic of distraction you are taking is simply in lieu of your acquiescence to my POV being correct. That has become a habit for you in your many sock puppet personalities, am I not correct?????

Re: “Listen To The Arguments Against Same Sex Marriage Get Destroyed

With my fans clamoring for an comment I suppose I can come up with something to meet their demands: SSM lawsuits are nearly all products of a coalition of divorce attorneys.

@davidlongfellow: It's about time. Polygamy laws never made much sense.

Re: “Listen To The Arguments Against Same Sex Marriage Get Destroyed

Jim, the religious arguments you keep coming back to are what you disagree with the most, but the important point is that the laws will ultimately be found to be unconstitutional, although not on religious grounds.

Re: “Don Majors is Leaving Jim Cooper's Office to Come Back to the Metro Council

several months ago Mr. Majors told residents in Bordeaux that they should not be concerned about crime at the Cumberland Pointe Apartments (located in Bordeaux) because we "are not in the same neighborhood as the apartment complex"

Re: “For a teen’s impulsive, unthinkable act, Cyntoia Brown got an adult’s life sentence. Was justice served?

She is innocent because she was only 16. She lives a disadvantaged childhood, being abused by nearly everybody she gained trust with. This young girl was protecting herself from getting killed first. Yes she was on drugs when she made her statements to the police. It is unfair and against womans rights!!! I wish there was something more all her supporters can do to at least get her out at a reasonable age. So she can start a new life. How many 16 yr olds screw up?? All 16 yr olds screw up. But not all are abused and neglected as children either. She is not a cold blooded murder, it was being in the wrong place at the wrong time. And having no good role models around her through her up bringing is a sad reality of what can happen when your treated like a piece of shit your whole life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Re: “100 Percent of Students Passing Social Studies Is A Problem

One can be below the accepted proficiency level dictated and still be far above what can be described as "barely read(ing)". That is it! Fact not "think".

BTW: I comment all over this site, I surly do NOT pursue you. Your illusions of grandeur are reaching hallucinatory levels again. Take your meds!

Re: “Listen To The Arguments Against Same Sex Marriage Get Destroyed

I'm not arguing legal strategy, what I am saying is that from the religious POV on this subject, it also violates the constitution. I do realize it also violates the full faith and credit provisions and the equal protection clause and LEGALLY that probably is the right path, but MOST of the arguments I hear are Biblical based. You just can not argue ANY anti bible reasoning with christianists, they do not accept that, hence I have found approaching the anti constitutional aspect of any religious basis for a law or practice works, for me at least.

BTW: Laws are generally accepted to be based upon the Code of Hammurabi from about 1750 BC, and were reportedly written on large stone tablets. There is NO archeological evidence of Moses, but if he existed some experts believe it would have been about 1440 BC, subsequent of Hummurabi. Hence there may have been a correlation between the stone tablet story and the reality of Hammurabi. It is also believed that Hammurabi was Amraphel King of Shinar from the book of Genesis 14:1. But who really knows who predated who, but we just know Hammurabi has more evidence of existence.
