Re: “Circle Players and TSU's production of Ragtime ambitiously charges forward

This production raised the bar for community theater. I find myself attending community theater performances with expectations lowered to account for common issues of inability to fully realize the acting/singing/dancing requirements of the principles and chorus, limited budgets and limited rehearsal time.

Tim Larson and his ensemble surpassed every expectation. His staging was Spartan, but incorporated innovative, focused design and functionality. The use of movable scaffolding providing full 3d use of the theatrical space. The beautifully detailed 3d model of the New Rochelle house was stunning. As for acting and singing, I wanted to sit there after the matinee performance to wait and see the evening performance as well.

Thanks to Tim Larson, his cast, musical ensemble and crew, and to Tennessee State University, for an unforgettable, and sometimes tearful, afternoon in the theater.

Thank you for posting this! It's going to be a crazy week. Zanies and the WWCF people have actually been very helpful and supportive of this project behind the scenes, so don't count them out yet.
