Re: “Tennessee Delegation Responds to POTUS Address on ISIS

You have to go back to Jimmy Carter (a one-termer) to find a president who's taken less vacation time than B.O.

Clinton took only slightly more time off than Obama during his 8 years so Republican presidents clearly are the worst offenders in this area and spend more time out of the White House than anybody (although it could be argued that's a positive for the country).

Prag is fine, JC.

Were you not at least mildly dismayed by Avi and that post?

Re: “If Religion Fixes Everything, Then Why Does Everything in this State Suck So Much?

Good call, Doyle. I admit to skimming it but I have suffered today over innocent errrors in writing and spelling.

I suggest a return to the no harm- no foul rule, and failing that, a moratorium. I used met for meet and spelled Dick Cheney's name wrong. These are not serious, but the name "Cheney" provoked a nasty little problem for me elsewhere.

*** I just do not know my commas but decided long ago not to fret.

Some is true, really.

Some just get frantic, tennhumilated is a good example.

"Now he's got to re-fight the war in Iraq because he pulled the troops out too soon."

It wouldn't have been necessary to have troops in Iraq in the first place if Cheney and Rumsfeld hadn't convinced W he needed to finish the job his daddy left undone.

Yee-hahhhh!!!

Re: “Tennessee Delegation Responds to POTUS Address on ISIS

@tennembarrassed: you've taken the shotgun approach with your twisted opinions, I prefer the more direct approach: You're full of shit, especially about Obama. If he's so great why are Democrats up for election telling him to stay away from them? To get Democrats elected at all he has to bribe the electorate with goodies paid for with money borrowed from China, a debt we'll be paying off well after he's long gone. Fast and Furious, IRS, Benghazi - embarrassing disasters brought about by his regime. Now he's got to re-fight the war in Iraq because he pulled the troops out too soon. On top of that he's extended our southern border clear to Honduras and is spending billions each year on welfare for illegal immigrants. And when Foley got beheaded Obama mourned his death on a golf course. Whadda man!

Re: “Tennessee Delegation Responds to POTUS Address on ISIS

Uh, no John, I'm not upset b/c you went to friggin' Jackson Hole. I just think you're FOS, and I enjoy smacking around right wing idiocy. Saying someone needs to read up on Dick Cheney on the anniversary of 9/11 takes a lotta nerve, and serves as a great illustration of just how sad and delusional the conservative mindset is. And I'm probably a better skier than you as well, but that's beside the point.

Re: “Yeah, Man, It Would be Terrible if Someone Came into a Windfall and Still Got TennCare Money

By the way, the guy on the motorized scooter in the story at 12:01 a.m. is a real, beloved person in south Columbia. I've talked with him a number of times but never asked about the physical injuries that put him into a wheelchair, but other people told me the injuries came from service in our military.

The preacher in the story is real, also, and, unfortunately, there is more than one, trying to mind other people's business. But there is a lot of that going around.

Are there no workhouses!?!? Everyone knows that an idle young mind is the Devil's workshop, so put these kids to work! Perhaps they could substitute for some of that prison/child labor the Chinese are phasing out. /s AWP, what do you think?

tennemb may be upset because I was out in Jackson Hole. It is nice, particularly when it is so hot here- or for the skiing.

Re: “If Religion Fixes Everything, Then Why Does Everything in this State Suck So Much?

So why with all the prayin' and religiosity is everything still so messed up? Uh, because religion is a bunch of mythological stories that do more harm than good? That's the simple answer I'd offer, although I'm sure it'll offend the crap outta everyone who worships. I'm sure every time another tornado hits the very religious state of Oklahoma, they pray profusely that it doesn't happen again - but of course it always does. Maybe in their prayers, tornado survivors thank the all powerful for sparing their lives, and taking those of the unfortunate heathens who lived across the street instead. Maybe religion does help some criminals rehabilitate, and does have some substantive lessons to offer it's followers. But you can be a wise, caring, good person without it. Our country and it's institutions are not supposed to endorse and sanction religion. The notion that this country is a religious nation founded on christianity is WRONG. You are free to have a religion in this country, and you are also free to not have one, and no favoritism is supposed to be offered either way - but clearly that's not how things are. I'm glad I have a religious background, and that I experienced it's history and teachings, but it no longer applies to me. I'm capable of being a good person who treats others well without it. If the "golden rule" is do unto others..., I already do that. I don't need the 10 commandments to remind me not to kill someone, have an affair with someone's wife, or start worshipping a golden calf. I'm already not into those things. I don't seek favor from an almighty in exchange for prayer and worship. Children's services here have been awful for a long time. Citing more religion as an answer to fix their problems just reflects the ineptitude of those in charge, which is why the DCS is so messed up in the first place.

Re: “Yeah, Man, It Would be Terrible if Someone Came into a Windfall and Still Got TennCare Money

Oh it's definitely donna, Jim. Who else would take the time and energy to threaten me with veiled allusions to her legion of attorneys, law enforcement relatives, computer hacker cousins and mysterious powerful friends. This new feverish, novella style rattling just proves she's reading too many dime store romance novels. She thinks she's a mafioso. Her problem is, and forever shall be, I can't be intimidated. The law is on my side as well.
I'm glad someone else is entertained by my campaign against the trolls. Thanks for saying so. I enjoy your and Prag's posts as well.
