Re: “The Daily Links: Police Abuse, Joan Rivers, and Roger Federer

Pragger,

Remember your" liberal "50% in this country is largely made up of blacks, gov't workers,
unionistas, and others, who vote their pocketbooks, not some liberal ideology most on this board subscribe to. Then you have the gay vote, miiltant feministas etc. Union members BTW are notoriously racist. You take your votes where you find them.

Re: “The Daily Links: Police Abuse, Joan Rivers, and Roger Federer

yoyo is fine, he represents probably the majority view, probably by a long shot. After all people like JC call me a klansman and after spending trillions- his view has perhaps (not deliberately) only led to the inabilty of the black community to rise up, in fact with the promise of gov't largesse it may just keep them on that old liberal plantation.

White Americans have been generous. To a fault?

john, you have mentioned before that you think yoyo is okay and that he makes some really good points.

Do you want to rethink that assessment now?

The only answer is to exempt African-Americans from the judicial system.

Re: “Frogge Looks To Make Issue Of Limited Recess Time

john, convinced you have no idea what you're on about. For young children, P.E. most often involves games that get them moving and teaches motor skills, not regimented exercise. Despite what you think, kids do want adults to provide some structure, to actually *teach.*

Maybe you should listen to people who actually have kids in school. Once, along with my brother in law, I took a 2nd grade class to play soccer (after a presentation about the Tsunami of 2011). Number of children who "hated" it? Zero.

We aren't talking about sulky high school kids overburdened with common core homework and battling newly surging hormones. But yeah, those kids need regular physical activity as much as their younger counterparts do.

http://www.cdc.gov/healthyyouth/physicalac…

Just like we require homework because it will be beneficial to students, we should require physical activity, or are you now going to argue for the benefits of "free study" as well?

Re: “Radley Balko And The Greatest Timing Ever

Balko has an article in the Sept. 3 Washington Post about St. Louis county and all the municipal governments. The article is book length, but it'll give you an appreciation for Nashville avoiding some local yokel stuff.

Re: “How STRIVE Is Set To Become The New Great Hearts

Do you feel any sorrow for the students left in the public sector, forgotten because of the myth of charter schools being any sort of solution? Charters are simply a band aid on the bullet wound suffered by public ed because of faux budget concerns. It solves for the few leaving the bulk to survive as best can, instead of fixing the problems for the whole!

The illuminati uses gmail.

This pitch seemed very believable at first, but now I've got to wonder...

Re: “Radley Balko And The Greatest Timing Ever

"Rise of the Warrior Cop" is one of the best books I've read recently. I commend Mr. Balko on his excellent writing. There is one glaring error that he can perhaps correct before another edition is released. In chapter four on page 68 he writes: "When Robert Kennedy was assassinated in April 1968..."
Robert Kennedy died on June 6, 1968.

Thank you.

Re: “How STRIVE Is Set To Become The New Great Hearts

why is Nashville against top level education. Just asking. My kids attend Great Hearts here in Phoenix and the school is plenty diverse and 10 of the schools are ranked n the top 20? It is very odd.. I feel bad for the students..

Re: “The Layoffs Have Begun At 1100 Broadway

Check the ages of those who are let go, and those who replace them. Gannett encourages getting rid of anybody over 40 and hiring anybody under 22 who might be able to put more than 148 characters together in a row.
