Re: “12South's poultry-heavy soda shop The Flipside has potential, but it needs more than cute decor

This place pissed me off to no end. I work down the street and walked down for lunch. I asked the bartender what their favorite thing was. I ended up with a soggy piece of flattened out chicken on white bread with ketchup on it. They even forgot the pickles which wouldn't have saved the dish either. The fries were boring and the milkshake was exactly as described. The worst part of it? It was basically a $25 lunch. It's downright shameful. This place seems nothing more than a rich person/investor who knows nothing about the restaurant business who sunk tons of money designing a beautiful and hip building but decided that their 3am drunk food would be perfect and should be the only thing on the menu. Until they hire a real chef with a real menu I'm going to avoid this place like the plague.

I've only been there once but, the food and service was good. Don't know how often I will make it around the corner to Flipside because of their essentially all chicken menu (the salmon being the solitary exception).

I'm a fan and appreciate how they eschew ubiquitous trends like "hot" chicken, $12 burgers and bbq/pulled pork to offer something unique, with a family back-story. The plates I've had have all been good, especially the Cedar Lane and "White Trash" (sub in Siracha for Ketchup). And they're open late . . . with a pretty impressive bourbon selection from what I recall. Nice to have Flipside in the neighborhood and I can see why Carrington is bullish on their continued success (is the way I read it)!

I am so glad I am not the only one who thought this place was underwhelming.

I went on a Saturday - we sat at one of the high top tables - I counted 6 different employees who passed by us and never took a drink order... Finally one of the bartenders came over. Then my chicken was less than delicious. I had the Memphis and it had way too much cheese on it. WAAAAAAAAAY too much. It was not good at all. The nacho tots were, however, the saving grace of the experience!
