Be careful sharing that you saw some cows and horses running around without supervision on social media, Ms. Jackson. I hope that she knows that pretty soon, if she chooses to tweet a picture of neglected or abandoned livestock she’d have 48 hours to turn that information over to the authorities or she’d be fined, because in this state, we infringe on everybody’s 1st Amendment rights, not just people who practice Islam. Welcome to Tennessee, Vicky.

zoombah, we don't live in the UK. In THIS country, most of the people who want the government to pass laws that mimic ancient religious texts, are Christians. Actually, the better term is Christianist. Many Christians, like myself, believe strongly in the separation of church and state and don't believe something should be illegal just because we believe it's wrong morally. And Christianists are being extremely selective in which parts of the Bible they want to use. Yeah, they like the parts in Leviticus that condemn homosexuality, but ignore all the other things that are condemned in Leviticus.

Well said Mattintn. Nobody's trying to get the government to pass laws or enforce something because Islamic teaching says so. Most of us know that. But there are in this country who are trying to pass laws because they interpret the Bible as teaching that (of course very selectively).
And Jim Collins, you're wasting your time. Of course you can find an answer to anything that reinforces what you already believe by "googling." The Heritage Foundation recently published a ridiculous study that even many Republicans are lampooning that purportedly has come to a sweeping figure of how much immigrants are going to cost nationwide if the immigration bill passes. They decided to completely leave out economic benefits and only publish costs, and even those are highly debateable. The "study" isn't worth the paper it's printed on, but of course the Xray's/Gasts of the world are going to breathlessly proclaim them as fact and post links to The Daily Caller and other ridiculous websites as "proof." You'd be better served by not even engaging with these guys because it's not a debate. They come here to energize themselves by getting under your skin.

Victoria Jackson, Why don't you just convert to being a Muslim and then you can hang out at the mosque. That way you can actually witness what goes on in the mosque in Murfreesboro. If you witness radicalism of the religion you can be one of the first to report any incidences to the authorities. It's too bad no one at the mosque in Massachusetts didn't report one of those bad T-guys (from the Boston Marathon incident) when he was acting up in that mosque and was asked to leave. It's important that all people that are practicing Muslims in this country are not thought of as bad T-guys. I guess I could make the comparison that we can't accuse all Catholic priests of being pedophiles. I was raised Catholic and as I was nearing adulthood I realized I had gotten a little bit of brainwashing when I was growing up and attending Catholic schools. From that point on I could no longer practice the religion but I do like to visit Catholic churches when there is nothing going on in them and sit by myself and enjoy the beauty of the buildings and their contents, which always gives me a feeling of peace. I'd also like to add that a lot of people move to Tennessee because of the cost of living, which is a lot better than a lot of other states, and the not so extreme weather conditions (except for tornadoes of course). I'm not sure I can agree with your statement that the mosque in Murfreesboro was built specifically to convert people to that faith. I can agree with you, in general terms, that all faiths and meeting places should be monitored by all attendees for strange and unusual behavior.

- Common Core does not set lesson plans. It's just an outline for concepts students should understand. The lesson plans can be tailored to fit the classroom, but the goalposts cannot be changed.
- You can't tell me that the feds slipped something as important as you say, and as deceptive as you say, past 40 states, but Tennessee is the one that is clever enough to unravel the conspiracy. That bit stinks to high heaven.
- When we live in a mobile society, we should have a one size fits all standard of what it means to be educated. A high school diploma from Tennessee is worth less than a high school diploma from other states. If we're going to call it the same, it should be the same.
- If we can't raise our educational standards, we will not attract better quality jobs. That is the long and short of why Tennessee desperately needs to begin to take education seriously.

It doesn't matter what Islam teachers about homosexuality or diversity. They have the right to believe and worship how they want.
Where it would matter is if they were trying to say that BECAUSE Islam says X, that the GOVERNMENT must enforce their doctrine. That's not right for Christians, and it wouldn't be right for Muslims.
I don't see why you're calling them out about diversity, when you're more intolerant than they are.
