Within walking distance of the Whitney Museum is Venus Over Manhattan, the third-floor gallery at 980 Madison Ave. founded by Adam Lindemann. The April 3-May 17 show Are Your Motives Pure? Raymond Pettibon Surfers 1985-2013 was the first exhibit to focus solely on Pettibon's paintings and drawings of surfers, and included a mural that Pettibon painted on-site in the gallery's smallish annex just outside the mega-large primary space. Look through photos I took there on the last day of the exhibition, as well as a video of Pettibon creating the mural from the gallery's Vimeo page, after the jump.
