For kids, Raiders can be both a thrill and a fright. I remember being instantly hooked and petrified in my first viewing of the classic. Thinking back, Raiders was a good bridge film for maturing my level of tolerance for less-kiddie fare. The Belcourt must have the same idea, with a 4K version of the film set to screen for the Saturday Kid Shows series.
If you think your child (let’s say 8+) is ready to jump from E.T.-range friendliness to the next step, a showing of Raiders of the Lost Ark might just do the trick. If the first outing with Dr. Jones doesn’t go so well (hey, no sweat kid, it’s an intense movie), maybe next Saturday’s showing of Willow might go over better.
Raiders starts at 10 a.m. Tickets are $5. No snakes admitted.
