Where: Play Dance Bar

Tickets for The Lion King’s current run at TPAC are a hot commodity, but there’s another show in town that Broadway babies will want to clear their calendars for. Nashville CARES has partnered with national fundraising and grant-making organization Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS to host “The Lion Sings Tonight: Broadway Meets Music City,” a one-night show featuring members of the touring company of The Lion King.

The performers, Emmy-nominated soap star Bobbie Eakes (All My Children, The Bold and the Beautiful) and Broadway star Alton Fitzgerald White (Ragtime, The Color Purple), will sing those familiar Elton John/Tim Rice-penned hits from the show. (Random awesome fact: Before John signed on, the music supplied for King was supposed to be a collaboration between Rice and ABBA.) Proceeds will support services for people living with HIV/AIDS in Nashville and nationwide.
