H&M Coming to Opry Mills

After years of rumors, Swedish retailer H&M is finally setting up shop in Nashville, according to Nashville Post. They're set to rehab a space located in Opry Mills Mall, making it the first H&M in Tennessee.

For fans of inexpensive, super-trendy clothing — like a nicer version of Forever 21 — this is a trumpet blast from on high. Think of H&M as the IKEA of clothing. Rumors of an H&M opening in Nashville have flourished in recent years, born early on just of wishing. (If it worked for this, rechannel your energies to IKEA.)

Yet some H&M aficionados have expressed concern about the company's practice of tailoring its stores to its clientele and surroundings. What sort of H&M will Opry Mills get? (Also, there's some fuming that H&M opened stores in Huntsville, Ala., and Serbia before turning its attention to Music City.)

Metro Davidson issued a near $1.5 million building permit to the company. Bacon Construction will be handling the construction for the store which will open later this year.
