You may have heard about a little glitter happening over on the East Side.
Our friends at Oldmadegood, who are currently moving their shop from Riverside Village to 3701-B Gallatin Pike, wanted to create a gold glitter floor at their new digs, providing a truly stellar surface to showcase their eclectic mix of locally made clothing and accessories, repurposed furniture, art and vintage finds. This involved dumping large quantities of gold glitter on to the floor and properly sealing it so customers don't track millions of grains of glitter out the door and into their own houses.
As the intrepid OMG owners Kate and Ashley discovered, this is easier said than done, and they were dismayed to learn that it would cost five thousand dollars to fix the floor, which they had already started coating in gold sparkles.
Never ones to be deterred, these gold dust women started an Indiegogo fundraising campaign to raise some cash to save the 6,000 square foot floor, and we're happy to report that in just few days, they've already exceeded their goal. Which means that when the shop reopens on Feb. 6 — which happens to be OMG's two-year anniversary — you get to go do a little happy dance on what is sure to be the most fabulous floor in all of Nashville.
We're huge fans of Kate and Ashley — every time I wear my Ashley-crafted necklace that reads "Fuck off," I get compliments — and we're so excited to see them expand their store to a larger, more sparkly location. And we expect many a crafty gal to attempt to epoxy her floor with mass quantities of glitter in the near future. If you're one of these girls, you may want to talk to Kate and Ashley first so you know what you're getting into before you make glitter rain all over your house. Imagine the possibilities!
Vive le glitter!
