A Sneak Preview of Ken Burns' The Dust Bowl Feat. a Q&A With the Filmmakers
When: 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14
Where: Tennessee State Museum

Historical documentaries often resonate powerfully with the present, but rarely does the timing seem so perfect as tonight’s sneak preview of Ken Burns’ The Dust Bowl, a documentary about the worst man-made ecological disaster in American history.

The documentary premieres on PBS on Nov. 18 and 19, but writer/producer Dayton Duncan and producer Julie Dunfrey will be at the State Museum for a special screening and a Q&A session afterward, as well as a performance by singer-songwriter James Talley. From the press release: “The film is a historical accounting of what happened and why during the 1930s on the southern Plains, filled with seldom-seen movie footage, previously unpublished photographs, the songs of Woody Guthrie and the observations of two remarkable women who left behind eloquent written accounts."
