Former CL artist of the month and current badass printmaker, Mark Hosford is embarking on his first outdoor mural project at Redux Contemporary Art Center in Charleston, SC.

Here's what Mark told us about the piece:

Every year, the Redux Art Center has an out of town artist paint their outside wall. It stays up for about 10 months. I have been down here for a week working on it. I just finished it up today. I decided to focus on a ghost haunting since the city reminds me of the history and the past so much. I based it off of a print by Utagawa Kunisada called "The Ghosts of Matahachi and Kikuno." The wall is about 18 feet high by about 36 feet wide or so.

I will have a two person show opening this Friday at REDUX. The mural will be part of that opening.

The show is up through Nov. 24. For more on Mark's inspiration from Japanese prints, read this post from his AOTM tenure.
