Artober Nashville: Henry Rollins Tonight at Belcourt, See Hank Yank Capitalism's Crank

Henry Rollins: Capitalism
Where: The Belcourt
When: Wed., Oct. 10, 8:30 p.m.

From his humble beginnings and life-changing tenure with seminal punk outfit Black Flag, Henry Lawrence Garfield (aka Henry Rollins) went on to three more decades as a solo artist, spoken word performer, author, actor, activist, radio host and television host. But he’s best known for two things: looking like a square-jawed, muscle-bound, tattoo-covered, all-American hulk of man; and being a scathing mouthpiece for political and existential angst. Rollins hasn’t recorded a note of music since the Black Flag tribute album he released in 2001 to benefit the recently freed West Memphis 3.

These days, the only performing you’ll see Hank do is on his spoken word tours. On his latest tour for his newest book, The Long March, he presents commentary on photographs and stories from recent trips to spots such as North Korea, Tibet, Uganda and Cuba, to name a few. Tickets run $25-$40.
