Original Night of the Living Dead Cast Members in East Nashville Saturday

Posted By on Fri, Oct 5, 2012 at 10:29 AM

Flesh-eating zombies may have taken over American pop culture — filling movies, television, comics and Internet memes with decaying denizens — but it’s still astonishing to sit back and rewatch the place where this undead invasion began. George Romero’s 1968 classic of low-budget guerrilla filmmaking Night of the Living Dead still holds up as a subversive commentary on American politics, racism and our propensity for violence, along with being a really great horror film.

Saturday's 9 p.m. one-night-only showing at the Cult Fiction Underground beneath Logue’s Black Raven Emporium on Gallatin Road features a special introduction by three original cast members and co-screenwriter John Russo, who will be on hand to sign autographs and answer questions. And I can pretty much guarantee you will hear at least one recitation of, “He’s coming to get you, Barbara!”
