Ron Lambert's studio is in the garage of his house in Inglewood. During our visit we talked about Archers of Loaf, the pros and cons of being an artist in Nashville, and the difference between what's natural and what's man-made. His studio reminded me of a construction zone — it's messy, and there's florescent orange spray paint all over the place. It made me understand his sculptures in a different way. Maybe it's because I saw how close his studio is to his house, but I kept seeing elements of home improvement and domesticity in his work that I'd never picked up on before.
Side note: Check out the babe repping Plastic Cleaner Magic and looking all Tootsie. Ron told me it's not even an old can — the company just hasn't updated its label.
Look for more posts about Ron throughout September.
