Today's Style BFF is dedicated to the memory of one of the most fabulous people to ever walk the earth, one Freddie Mercury.
As the frontman of legendary group Queen, Freddie's sartorial sense was as adventurous, unpredictable and exciting as their music. And, since the band was together for two decades, his cutting-edge looks bookmarked the hottest trends of each era, worn by one incredibly hot individual. Yes, I said it. Dude was hot. I blame him for my tendency to chase men in eyeliner.
Freddie would have been 65 today, which is why we are celebrating Freddie For A Day. In lieu of dressing up as Freddie for work today — I'm sure my coworkers are relieved that I am not wearing a spandex jumpsuit or suspenders, sans shirt — I decided to pay my respects by posting some of his most epic looks ever. All of this fun supports the Mercury Phoenix Trust, a charity set up in Freddie's name after his death of AIDS-related causes in 1991. If you neglected to wear a moustache or plan a Freddie flash mob today, you can donate to support charities in the fight against AIDS here.
Picking favorite Freddie looks was no easy feat — this man sparkled in every way possible. As he said, "I'm just a musical prostitute, my dear." Indeed.
I'm fairly certain I've used this photo here before, but it's just that good. I mean, sequins! Chest hair! Teeth! Hot.

I'm kind of disappointed that nobody else has attempted to wear this Alice In Wonderland-esque jumpsuit. Lady Gaga, I'm talking to you.

Suspenders, shades and attitude.

Who needs a shirt when you have a tie? Oh, and red leather pants ...
Capes: Good in the '70s ...
... and even better in the '80s

Feathers, fur and fabulous.

While I'm partial to his '70s style, his iconic look from the 1985 Live Aid concert is pretty damn sexy.

Goth god, my favorite Freddie look. Freddie was always ahead of the curve, as he was doing this in the early '70s.

Happy birthday, Freddie! You truly are the champion of the world, and beyond.
