“You’re bad at sex. You’re bad at it!” Yikes, Maria. Way to crush my dreams, along with the legions of other girls who love smart, pudgy, hilarious Louis C.K. — and there are more of us than you think, believe me. Still, it was great to see Maria Bamford guest starring on last week’s Louie, the FX breakout series that people have been talking about relentlessly ever since Louie snarfed down that first slice at Ben’s Pizza.
Her appearance ends with her chastisement of Louis’ sexual skills, but Bamford opens the show with a standup performance, joking about the voicemails she leaves on her mother’s answering machine in the voice of Baby Jesus. I’ve never even met her mother — or Baby Jesus, for that matter — but I’m pretty sure Bamford’s impressions are spot-on. Plus she was in the Comedians of Comedy alongside Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis and Brian Posehn. In other words, she’s bona fide.
