The first is that Sapphire, author of Precious, Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire will be at Parnassus Books on July 10 to read from (and sign copies of) her new novel, The Kid. The titular kid's name is Abdul, and you might guess whose son he is.
Secondly, Molly Ringwald will be at the downtown library on Sept. 18, as part of their Salon@615 series. She has a book called Getting the Pretty Back: Friendship, Family, and Finding the Perfect Lipstick, which I will admit to not having read. She's pretty fun on Twitter, though, and you can read an excerpt of her book here.
Lastly, I don't have a confirmed date, but it would appear that the mighty Barbara Kingsolver will be in Nashville at some point this fall. We got an advance galley of her new novel Flight Behavior (due Nov. 6), which I had to force myself to put down in order to do some work here at work. On the back are written these words: "8-City Book Tour: Asheville; Boston; Nashville; New York City; Portland (OR); San Francisco; Tucson; Washington, DC." We'll let you know when we hear more.
