Emergence, running May 17-19 at The Martin Center for Nashville Ballet, is a collaborative blend of dance, music and art produced by the Nashville Ballet, Watkins College of Art, Design & Film, and the ALIAS Chamber Ensemble. In it, four short original pieces are set to live music with interactive visual elements, creating a live performance art gallery for audience members.

Each piece is a collaborative exploration between a Nashville Ballet dancer, a Watkins art student, and a musician. A photographer and dancer team up to explore the pixel as a constraint in a dance about the struggle to escape. A sculptor generates warmly toned pieces that three couples must navigate, contrasting a dark and epic score. The goal of Emergence is to invite the audience into the artistic process of new and emerging Nashville artistic talent, and create a dialogue that informs not only the viewer but also the artist.
