See Some of Last Night's Star-Studded Terry Riley Panel

Posted by on Wed, May 2, 2012 at 11:43 AM

If, like us, you were stuck at work last night and missed the all-star panel at Blair's Turner Hall with composer Terry Riley, electric-violin virtuoso Tracy Silverman, Pulitzer Prize-winning music critic Tim Page, NSO conductor Giancarlo Guerrero and ArtNowNashville editor and Scene contributor John Pitcher, here's partial consolation: the first 45 minutes of their 90-minute discussion.

Alas, it doesn't have what was described to us as an improv between Silverman and Riley, whose new work The Palmian Chord Ryddle will make its world premiere tomorrow night at the Schermerhorn (en route to its date next week at Carnegie Hall). All the more reason to get tickets to one of the premiere performances — and to check out Pitcher's first-rate profile of Silverman in the Scene on stands tomorrow.
