A Sneak Peak at Fabled Fixations, Opening Tomorrow at Cumberland Gallery [Installation View]

Cumberland Gallery represents some excellent artists, but the artists whose work is highlighted in this exhibit are especially interesting to me. It's really just a matter of taste, but if you like your work weird, you're in luck. Fabled Fixations is R. Crumb-y, provocative and technically precise enough to appeal to both your inner nerd and your inner sexual deviant. The fact that the gallery's in a posh Green Hills shopping district makes it feel even more risque.

I wrote this Critic's Pick on the show, which opens tomorrow night, but I also stopped by the gallery yesterday for a preview. My favorites are Mark Hosford's Rorschach-inspired drawings, but I didn't even attempt to photograph them because I don't trust my camera to do them justice. Here's a link to Hosford's website, where you can find better quality images of the work. And while I'm at it, here are links to the other artists' sites, as well: Chris Scarborough, Jesse Shaw, Fred Stonehouse, Tom Huck and Kurt Kemp
