Visual Art Paper Dolls, Mod Podge and Nerdery: A Studio Visit with Janet Lee

Janet Lee and her husband Mike work out of their home in East Nashville. I met Janet about a year ago when I noticed that she had an Umbrella Academy iPhone case, and was moved to introduce myself. Janet illustrates graphic novels — including the Eisner Award-winning The Return of the Dapper Men and Jane Austen's Emma. She's also a painter, collage artist, and she makes a bitchin' paper doll.

I stopped by Mike and Janet's house last week to interview them for our upcoming People Issue, and between making quick friends with their massive dog Odie (originally named Odin, but after about two minutes in his company it becomes clear that he could never pull off the mantle of a grim Nordic god — he's too fuzzy!) and inviting myself over for game night, I managed to snap a few photos of Janet's home studio.
