We're kind of going on and on about Zeitgeist's Exhibit Your Symptom, with a Critic's Pick in last week's paper and an inclusion in this week's Winter Arts Preview (where I call the exhibit the heart of this season's local art scene, for God's sake). So when I say that Brent Stewart's contribution — a new video called “THRLLRRR” — is the best part of the exhibit, that's pretty high praise.
The video shows Stewart's youngest daughter, Sisi, wandering through a vacant warehouse in Nashville. The video was shot in 2010, and Stewart originally exhibited it in New York for Soliloquy 1 at PPOW Gallery in a long-form 25-minute version with live music accompaniment by Hisham Bharoocha. For the Zeitgeist show, he pared the video down to an intense four minutes, and matched it with a track by Chicago's DJ Diamond, whom Stewart describes as "ghetto-tech, juke-step music."
He cut an excerpt from the video just for us to post on Country Life. To see the full video, check out the exhibit at Zeitgeist, which is up through Jan. 28. Check out more stills from the video after the jump.
