Since 12South is one of the hottest neighborhoods for dining, there will also be some great food and food-related events. Sloco, Edley’s Bar-B-Que, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, Julia’s Homestyle Bakery and 312 Pizza Company will be set up in the park, while 12South’s other great restaurants, Burger Up, Epice, 12th South Tap Room, Frothy Monkey, Mafiaozas, Portland Brew, Josephine, Las Paletas, Urban Grub, and Taqueria Del Sol are all within walking distance along the closed-off street festival area.
Edley’s Bar-B-Que will have a beer garden in the park, and will hold a hot-wing-eating contest starting at 3 p.m. (There will be other beer vendors along the street festival route.) Las Paletas will have a kids’ area from 10 a.m. until noon and then hold a musical parade up 12th Avenue.
Regular admission is free, but “Festival Friend” tickets can be purchased for $70 each, which gets you special privileges in a tented area near the main stage with food and drinks (and its own exclusive restroom, in case you needed extra motivation). Ticket sales support the Friends of Sevier Park organization.
Parking will be tight along the streets adjacent to the event. Festival organizers encourage people to consider taking public transportation, walking or biking to the event. Valet bike parking will be available at 12th and Montrose and in Sevier Park. For more information, visit sevierparkfest.com.
