Chef Kevin Ramquist Launches 'Unicorn' Chicken Shack Pop-up at Boone and Sons

Last week we learned about Deli House, the Italian delicatessen pop-up from Sycamore's Tony and Caroline Galzin, which started last Friday at Boone and Sons neighborhood market in East Nashville — a pop-up that will continue there every Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Saturday service may be added in April.)

Now chef Kevin Ramquist, a veteran of F. Scott's, is launching a pop-up restaurant called The Unicorn with a chicken shack brunch at Boone and Sons this Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with alfresco seating and live music.

Ramquist will be making Virginia-style BBQ chicken, buckwheat waffles with red-eye gravy, fresh pickles and cole slaw. For your sweet tooth, he'll offer Virginia maple doughnuts.

All Boone & Sons events are BYOB, but freshly made, handcrafted bloody Mary and mimosa mixers will be available. Just supply a bottle of your own vodka or bubbly. You can also bring beer and wine; there will be coolers to keep your bevvies cold.

Meanwhile, as Lesley Lassiter reported here last week, Boone and Sons is sponsoring the Porter Crossing Farmers Market there every Monday evening, with fresh produce and more.

Finally, if you're a fan of crawfish, you might want to stop by Boone on Friday and Saturday evenings during the season to scoop up crawdaddies by the pound. We hear they sold 300 pounds last weekend.
