Next time anyone laughs at you for taking a picture of your food when you dine out, you can tell them you’re doing it for a good cause. Sysco, the food service distribution company, is hosting a contest to benefit Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign to combat the hunger problem faced by children in our country. For every picture of a restaurant meal uploaded to Instagram or Statigram (for those who don’t have a smartphone or the Instagram app), Sysco will donate 50 cents to the campaign.

The program started Jan. 6, but runs through March 1, so you still have plenty of time to photograph your masterpiece(s). You can enter as many times as you like; just be sure to use the tag #sharemyplate so that your entry counts (and the money is donated). The contest will be judged by chef Robert Irvine of the Food Network and a team of judges from Sysco who will choose a first, second, and third prize winner for cash prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250, respectively.

Additionally, here in Nashville, Amerigo will be awarding two winners a $25 gift card among those who photograph, upload and tag their meals at Amerigo restaurants in the Nashville area. Along with the #sharemyplate hashtag, just be sure to include the @amerigotn tag to be entered into their contest. Use the hashtag #sysconashville for other opportunities to win prizes as well.

Visit the contest page on the Sysco website for more information and the Statigram contest page if you need to upload your pictures.
